Do you really want to advertise that?

I have an NRA sticker on my truck's back window. For me it is a way to show support for an organization that is doing more than anyone else to protect our 2A rights. It also shows people that there are many of us out there who support the Constitution. I'm not concerned about someone seeing the sticker and breaking into my vehicle. An NRA sticker does not equate to guns in the car, or that the driver conceal carries, no more than a Denver Broncos sticker equates to Manning being in the vehicle.

I'd be willing to bet that most of us here live in complete confidence in our own abilities. It generally shows in the we carry ourselves, and the chance being targeted personally by the average criminal just because of a bumper sticker is pretty slim.

However, we're not always in our vehicles. An empty car, sitting in a parking lot, sporting any firearm sticker says one thing: This vehicle MAY contain a gun.

Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

I don't put any stickers on my truck just due to the fact that some yahoo with a different opinion will trash my truck, such as an anti gun person or someone who disagrees with my football team........to many idiots out there.

Paranoia comes to mind.

I am not much on stickers, but, do have a couple political ones. An NRA sticker wouldn't bother me, at least a 100 times more common than Obama stickers around here. The protected by S&W ones and the like are kinda over the top for me. But, the fear some show is amazing. How many thieves are industrious enough to follow you home. Man I am glad I live where I do and still see gun racks with guns all kinds of stickers and people who aren't afraid of everyone that surrounds them. Sad that some parts of the country are so out of control that it brings out so much fear.

My point EXACTLY. And if the "right" person sees it...the car gets broken into...or keyed...or graffitied, etc...

Ones behavior changes based upon the surroundings (or it will if one is smart). Living in Montana provides a "measure" of safety that most areas don't enjoy. I know someone who lives there, and she, nor her neighbors lock their doors. Try that in my state and you'll come home to an empty house!
Rather than fear, I consider it "caution"... an unfortunatelly necessary caution due to the out of control condition you mentioned.

It’s not paranoia if you can back it up with facts.

My car really has been vandalized because I had a “Veterans for Bush” bumper sticker on it.

My wife really was followed through town by some nut case that was screaming that the blood of all the children of Iraq was on her hands (W sticker).

I really did have some dumb *** spend his whole day screaming “Cowboys Suck!!!!!!” every time he entered my work area.

Call it anecdotal if you wish but I know that all of that stopped the day my wife came home and told me about the nutcase and I took every bumper sticker off the car.

I’m tired of this “you live in fear” meme, I don’t live in fear I live in the real world. I don’t out of my way to invite trouble into my life. If not having an NRA sticker on my car will save me four new tires that seems like a small price to pay.

We rarely put firearm themed decals on our vehicles in New Jersey.... not so much to deter potential bad guys but rather to deter unwanted attention from our at times over enthusiastic and pitifully informed police force.

I don’t know if some of you have noticed but this country is choosing sides.

There was recently a page on Facebook (yeah, I know you don’t use Facebook but a lot of people out there do) that specifically advocated calling 911 any time you saw a person open carrying.

The guy that started the page suggested lying to the dispatcher to make it sound like the open carrier was a threat (he’s waving the gun around) so that the police would send a bunch of cars and smack the guy down.

During the recent recalls here in Colorado people opposing the recall were videotaped threatening to kill recall supporters. Then there was the guy I’ve referenced before who was specifically targeting vehicles with pro Bush bumper stickers on them for vandalism.

On the Democratic Underground website they have threads discussing the best ways to vandalize the homes of NRA members (How do you think they figure out which homes those are?). A current favorite is spelling out NRA= MURDER on people’s lawns in salt water. There was a famous actor (I think Clooney) that said “if you’re an NRA member you deserve whatever you get.”

If you think for one second that someone that believes all that wouldn’t do thousands of dollars damage to your car or flat all four tires while your wife is in Wal Mart, alone, over an NRA or a S&W sticker on your car you are a fool.

The only gun I've ever had stolen was a sweet shooting six inch Highway Patrolman, my ex wife stole it.

I have stickers from the burglar alarm company on or near the doors of our house, that along with an NRA sticker might convince a crook to ply his trade elsewhere.

I LOVE THE SMELL OF TESTOSTERONE IN THE MORNING

What makes you believe that crackies actually think, are afraid of BA's, or consequences? They MAY not try & take something from your person, but your car or house while you are at work is another story, if they believe your advertising is real. What good comes from advertising other than stroking your own ego.

PARANOIA / FEAR

NO, IT'S A REALITY IN MANY AREAS. if you live in an area where you can leave rifles in a rifle rack overnight & expect to see them again in the morning, congrat's, but you are certainly in the minority. Big sporting goods stores like cabela's, gander mtn, bass pro, Dicks are having a serious problem with car break ins because a car/truck loaded to go hunting indicates even to a seriously stupid criminal that there is a good likelihood of a gun being inside. A bumper sticker makes it even worse. Why tempt fate? Then the other side of the coin is if a theif breaks into your car & God forbid finds a loaded gun & kills someone, YOU could be charged with a liability for some type of criminal or civil charges yourself. Whether you are found guilty or not it is still gonna cost you time & $.

My "My kid is an honor student...." bumper sticker must work, nobody has ever messed with me.:D

I'm adding a new sticker to my truck: "My child is an honor student. My governor is a moron." I figure it might help defeat his re-election in the coming year... :D

BUMPER STICKERS

I like the "CAN'T FEED EM, DON'T BREED EM" bumper sticker but wouldn't have one on my truck and park it in a section 8 (projects) housing area.
