Missing Airliner

Supposedly, some of the fake passport people were into human trafficking, but it's had to see how that fits in with the disappearance.

I doubt that the Viets have sophisticated enough equipment to search as effectively as a Western power would.

At this point I wouldn't be surprised to see David Copperfield show up with the airplane on the Tonight Show.

This one is strange for sure. If I'm not mistaken, the Air France crash was known to have happened and approximately where but the ocean depths were such that it took a long time to recover the black boxes.
I'm not saying this is terror related just that what happened is highly unusual and definatley not the norm with a crash due to explosion or break up. The radar may be iffy in that area but from 35000 ft I would think something would have shown up. The lack of any wreckage or debris is baffling. I too think the search area has been too confined, especially with reports of a possible course reversal happening. And how do they know that? Was it observed? If so, someone was watching it.
Too many questions and too early to say.

Yes, nothing yet. The oil slick wasn't associated with the airplane, neither was any debris. Really strange. Could the plane have been hijacked and flown at a "under the radar" altitude? Then crashed 100's of miles away? Interesting story to follow. Too bad for the people on board and their families.

Something being bandied about now that they transponder was switched off, and the plane was tracked with military radar turning west.... velly intellesting.........

since the flight and voice recorders have water activated pinging devices on them it shouldn't be that difficult to have our destroyer using sonar that is in the area locate them if the plane went down in the water. these recorders have to be able to survive some very strong destructive testing so they probably survived any crash.

when I was in the air force most of the cargo aircraft had a crash position indicator on them that deployed when it crashed either on land or in the water. it transmitted a signal on 243 MHz and people get really excited when one of those CPI's all of a sudden starts transmitting. since both 243 MHz and 121.5 MHz or always being monitored the airplane would have been found by now.

The reports that the military radar picked it up headed west, off the west coast of Malaysia an hour after the transponder quit..Is that even possible without civilian control and the co.knowing about it?

Okay, I am low tech, "dont know much about geography", and not that much about politics. When this first happened I thought there was a chance north korea might have shot the plane down to show the world that they are to be feared? However they havent bragged about it. Would it be possible a missile could have brought it down without some entity not seeing it?

Although there is always a chance of terrorists might have pulled this off I kinda doubt it:
Malaysia is a muslim country why would terrorists pick them.
There were few westerners, & only three or four Americans, on board
I believe the majority of the passengers were Chinese, I don't think the terrorist groups want to be rubbing China the wrong way.
It sure is a strange case!

The Pacific's version of the Bermuda Triangle, The Dragon's Triangle or Devil's Sea. Too far out for radar contact. I spent several years sailing the Bermuda Triangle waters and have seen some funny things.

An interesting idea - North Korea. That is a real possibility as crazy and unpredictable as they have been. One would think the the US, and maybe China, would keep eyes on them 24 hours a day. Of course one (me) could be wrong about that.

Trolley :D:D:D

Moderator This is meant to be half serious and totally funny. I am 100% apolitical.
Thank you.

I suppose I should feel bad that I don't care, but I don't.
That makes me feel a bit bad, actually.

It's quite the conundrum. :)

If someone turned the friendly signal it could of been shot down. Which the claimed the friendly transponder was turned off.

I'm thinking it was shot down. Just my only gut feeling. Who shot it? Is a good guess.

I could be wrong. It's just my first thoughts.

North Korea is quite a ways north of this area. Terrorists in Malaysia? You bet.

If it was shot down, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for someone to take responsibility. I smell a wire fault in a gas tank brewing here.
