Every 5th Sunday we have a 22 fun shoot at the Pearland shooting club. We start out with rifles shooting at two plate racks. We usually have 20 to 30 people so you could never get finished if you were to shoot against each of the other people so we shoot five times against 5 other people. Then we move up closer and compete with pistols on the two plate racks, same 5 order as above. If you are the winner 5 out of 5 times you can be the overall winner in that competition. Sometimes we have a tie for first place and usually for second. I did not get any notable place today on either of the plate rack competitions. To finish off things we have a stump shoot. I really like the stump shoot even though I often get a lot of hot brass down my collar. We divide up the people into teams of an even number of people, sometimes we have five teams of five people and the lead really flies then. Today over half of the folks were too low on ammo to shoot in the stump shoot so we wound up with three teams of three. The way the stump shoot works is we put a 2x2 stake about 4 feet long in some pipe holders. The stakes have a black mark painted on them about every foot starting about a foot down from the top. Each team has its own stake to shoot at. You shoot the stake at the upper most black line until the top falls off. The last team to shoot off the top of their stake is eliminated and the remaining teams shoot the next black line down until one team is left. I was luck enough to be on that team today and got $14 prize money. I have two videos of this, the first one is the stump shoot and the second one is one of my turns at the pistol part of the plate racks.

Looks like fun. Rifle against pistol didn't seem to fair though.

Each team had to have at least one pistol and one rifle. Any mix was ok. What you see is the 3 guys on team 3. I wish we had more entrants that day but the lack of 22 LR is taking a toll.

We use to do that with muzzle loaders. Trick was to have the feller with a .62 cal on your team.

That looks like fun. I might just have to come and check y'all out one of these days....that is if I can EVER get my hands on any .22lr ammo. I have friends that shoot there and they are always tryin' to get me out there.

I have a cap and ball revolver, it could take me all day with that one, what with all the time it takes me to reload. It is definitely a good time for a really large caliber if you have a muzzle loader.

That sure looks like fun. 22 is beginning to reappear in this area. I'd really like to shoot a course like that at the Ft Bliss Rod & Gun Club.
