I private seller was unloading his antiquated 4516-1 with 1 mag today at a local gun show right in my town. He got $350 for it.. and I walked out smiling. I also got a LNIB Ruger Mark II 22/45 with box and all the goodies for $250 from someone walking around looking to make some $. Then to top it off I walked by a guy with some mags for sale and he just happened to have (2) 4516 mags that I paid $30 for each.....that was not the best deal I have ever made but I am sure it's close to the going rate. All in all a good day at our towns 2nd gun show ever.

Sounds like a Nice day for a walk. Today, I just missed a 3913TSW for south of $400 by about an hour. Oh well, you will like the 4516. Mine puts a smile on my face, and I'm good for about 50+ rounds per visit. My favorites are full size frames though.

The 4516 is a fantastic shooter!!! Surprisingly, I work a little harder to shoot it as well as my 4506-1 but not by much.

Nice catch. I don't think I have ever seen a 3rd gen S&W at a gunshow in Nebraska. S&W's in general are pretty rare.

The best part is my LGS guy texted me and asked what they were worth.
I gave him some numbers. I worked this morning and then went car shopping for my daughter in afternoon. It's 5 minutes to the gun show so I got there at 4pm..it closed at 5PM.
He went and got the gun for me from the private seller, I didn't have $350 with me so he pitched in the extra $150. How many of you have an LGS that will spot you $150 to buy a gun he gets no profit from.
Then the Ruger came along and I went to the ATM down the street...
I love Ohio!!

Wow!!! You sure as heck beat the deal I just got on my 4516-1. :p Congratulations!!! :)

Don't forget with 2 mags it was actually $380 and with 3 mags $410.. no box. Although as many wise men have said..you cannot shoot the box.
Well, true. That does narrow the price difference. :) I didn't get a box either, but I did quite well with spare magazines and extras. :)

No regrets whatsoever. In my estimation, I overpaid by about $50.00 compared to my two other recent 3rd Gen buys. My first buy (6906) was a bargain almost as good as yours! :D The other (4046) was just a so-so deal as it has turned out (kinda tired & worn, dirty, magazines weren't factory, box wasn't original, etc.). :o You win some, you lose some. Live and learn.

I figure if you know what your doing you can come out ahead about 90% of
the time. The other 8% are those guns you just have to irregardless of price. Then there are a couple percent where you just miss something that devalues the gun and you didn't catch it. I did that on a 6906. Beautiful pistol with original box, 2 mags, looked used very little. The guy wanted $450 so I bit. When I got it home I had missed that fact that it had the old 2nd gen sights not Novaks. Had I noticed I would have left it there.

Congrats mbliss on your new 4516-1!! :) Good price on a fine 45!

I'd post some pics of mine if I had a camera. And the technical aptitude to do so. But everytime I save enough to buy a camera, I buy another gun or ammo instead! ;)

Enjoy that fine compact 45. I look forward to your range report. Regards, 18DAI
