Battle of Bunker Hill and Colonial stuff.

I already have these set aside for me. I normally do not collect Documentary images but--this one from a 1924 Doc on the Battle of Bunker Hill, is one I cannot pass up. Im also scoring a few others from a Disney movie of all places.

The Battle of Bunker Hill press photo: I cant seem to get the exact image to post but is a photo from the Doc-not artwork like this one is. This is closest I can find to the image im getting:

The Colonial themed Disney images are from Johnny Tremain.

Heh heh, im in a 1-bedroom apartment for now. Hopefully in about a year--ill be in a better place. Right now, most of my images are just stacked on a shelf or in rubber bins.

Thanks as well. I accidentally stumbled on this image when I was looking for images of John Mills in the movie: Dunkirk. This Doc image is from a Doc I never knew about either and maybe can contact IMDB to see if they can use the image?

Im also looking for good combat images from: Target Zero--which is a Korean War war movie with: Charles Bronson, Richard Conte, Peggie Castle, L.Q.Jones, Chuck Connors and (British actor) John Alderson.

Darn shame the movie has never been released at least on DvD--its a great early Charles Bronson effort.

Thank you and, im not ssure who the artist wa? I didnt look. I had a hard time copying and pasting these thanks to abused library computers. Ill see if I can find that image again and look. Im on the tablet now so--not sure if ifIcan google it here--the wifi is the cause of that.

Cool stuff, a good friend of mine is restoring an early Brown Bess that was found at Breed's Hill in the Boston area. He and his partner bought it, my buddy is the most patient guy in the world and is restoring the stock with small pieces of wood surgically glued in place. The buttstock and fore piece are in good shape but the rest is barely there, there are no English regimental markings on the stock and furniture so its possible this was used by the Colonials. His partner will take the stock when my buddy is done and completely restore all the finish to match what is left on the buttstock where its nearly black from age, considering some of the other work he has done in the past you won't be able to see all the fine work my friend has done except by viewing the for and after pictures. Hes fixed other rifles with as many as 100 pieces of wood and its very hard to tell where the original wood leaves off and the repair begins, truly amazing.

There was a 1924 film called "Janice Meredith". It had scenes of Washington crossing the Delaware, perhaps that is where that Bunker Hill battle scene comes from.

Moat important battle of the war

Hello, I couldn't resist this one. This was, in my opinion, the most important battle of the revolutionary war. A ragtag bunch of barely trained militia groups stood toe to toe with the most powerful army in the world. It was the bloodiest battle of the war, and cost the British army 1054 casualties. It led to their evacuation of Boston. Finally it shows how important the idea of freedom was to them and how the colonies would have to be conquered not just punished.

Looks like a picture of Gert Frobe and some other actors to me. What does he have here?

My ancestor, Dr. Joseph Warren, a leading patriot orator died at Bunker Hill.

Reading The Secret Six about Washington's spies in NY has rekindled my interest. Good stuff ringo.

Not Bunker Hill, but my ancestor, as a Justice of the Peace in Orange County, NC, who dismissed charges by a Tory against a (later) "revolutionary", had a "dead or alive" cash bounty put on his head by the British.

If he had not survived the war and the bounty, my line would have stopped, and no one would be reading this post.

We finally got him acknowledged as a "patriot" by the DAR, even though he is not recognized as a soldier.

He is just one of all the male ancestors who were either soldiers or judges/ judiciary. We seem to have either volunteered, been drafted, or been elected /appointed somehow since 1621.

I love the pictures. Who today would realize that war was a very personal affair, between two men with a single shot or bayonet to exchange?

It's just amazing to me how a relatively small, barely supplied force could defeat in so many encounters, the army and navy of one of the strongest countries in the world. Determined men, good leadership and making luck fall on your side won the day.

The whole Red Line tour in Boston is great. Bunker Hill, USS Constitution, the Old North Church, etc. And not far away are Lexington, Concord, and Walden Pond.

This deserves several thumbs up. I dont know if my played takes DVRs or not? but ill ask a tech guy I know to see.Id literally kill--for acopy of this movie. Last time I saw it-was when it was shown on TCM about 10 years ago for a Charles Bronson tribute.

That may be possible but, the image I ave is listed as a Documentary image--BUT--as they have over 1 million images in stock at any time--they most likely made a mistake on it. Ive bought seveal there which were listed with wrong info. This image was the one that the Baltimore Sun used in promoting its release. I do imagine that you nailed this as a movie correctly. Ill try doing some research tomorrow since no time today, but ill bet that your hunch is correct.
