Q: How do you know when a monocled cobra is on the loose in your town?
A: When you answer the door, and an unfamiliar but apparently near-sighted snake climbs out of the basket he is coiled in and says, "I say, old chap, might I borrow a spot of Grey Poupon and accommodations for the night?"

I'd never go to bed again if I lived there.
Too bad it didn't get lost in a cool climate. Years ago a Black mamba got loose from an illegal collector in the west bay area. Herpatologists thought it'd perish from the cool coastal climate. They never found it.

Making a statement like that while killing the snake may well be a hate crime in California.
When I was in Afghanistan, we had two cobras show up in one of the guard towers. A security officer shot one of them, but the second one got away.
Not long afterwards, we had a drill where we had to go to our bunkers. The one I was to report to was a Conex box buried in the ground and covered with sand bags. Yup, it was the bunker nearest the snakey guard tower.
Being as I was the second in command and had to set an example, I went in first, flashlight in my left hand and my Beretta 9mm in my right hand. Luckily, there was no cobra in there.
We never did find that dadblame snake!

Here; hold this seemingly harmless snake. It couldn't be poisonous- it doesn't even rattle when you annoy it....
Why, oh why would you NOT have the venom glands removed from this creature, rendering it as the gnarliest gopher snake in your zip code??? It's not that hard, nor that expensive. Not when you compare it to the cost of the first bite victim suing you.
I am sure that the game wardens are THRILLED to be digging around in the hot brush looking for this slithering problem. The one good thing is here in Ca. we do have a lot of hawks and falcons who can and will rip this snake to pieces, and we have a good number of badgers, who also have a hankering for chewing up snakes.
What a screw up it is to lose track of this particular animal.

If it were a Diamondback, fine, it's a native species. That thing? It's getting filled with bird shot, ASAP, and don't let the owner get in range either, he could be "collateral damage".
Dave, I just don't think a 7 iron has enough range for me dealing with that critter. Maybe the proverbial 10 ft. pole, with a frog gig on the end of it. A hoe with a looonnngg hard handle would be adequate.

I think a Cobra 360cc titanium driver with the center of gravity adjusted to the rear with a stiff Harrison shaft with Wynn Grips and the snake slightly ahead in the stance is a winning formula.
