They had some plastic tubs of .38, .45 and 10mm cases in plastic tubs for $20. Most tubs had 250 rounds. I got to looking closer and the tubs were labeled "Do Not Shoot" and "Reloading Components". These were loaded rounds. Some of the tubs looked corroded, some looked pretty good. Apparently these were reloads that were poorly stored. Some of the hollow points had fuzz on the exposed lead hollow.

The price was attractive, but the thought of pulling a couple hundred rounds and disposing of the powder was a little daunting. My buddy suggested shooting them in my old model 10. I hope he was being facetious. If I were still a little desperate for .38 cases, I would have picked up a box or two. Since I now have about 3 cans full of .38 cases, I decided to pass. The primers might have been OK. The bullets as well. No way I would shoot any of these in any of my guns. Too much work.

Anybody seen anything like this come up? It's a new one on me.

On a brighter note, they had lots of Bullseye on the shelf.

Pretty easy to pull the bullets if you have a single stage press. I use pliers to grab the bullet when the ram is raised to the top. The bullet is ruined but you weren't going to shoot unknown reloaded ammo anyways.

But that's a crummy price to have to do that much work.

8 cents a round for what amounts to scrap lead, fertilizer, and questionably primed brass, seems high to me but if a person was desperate it might not seem so bad. Ivan

Rule #1: NEVER shoot someone else's reloads, Never reload for anyone else....Regardless of WHAT WENT WRONG, YOUR RELOAD WILL BE WHAT WENT WRONG...

Were you in ATP gunshop by chance???

I saw the same thing and asked a question here about 2 weeks ago. Was it in ATP or somewhere else?

They've got Bullseye on the shelf? Damn! I just put my family on an austerity program and said I wasn't going to buy gun stuff for a while. What timing.:mad::mad:

A gunshop selling ammo for $4 a box with warnings.

What part of "run, Forest run" don't you understand.

RWSmith, yeah, it was ATP. I haven't been by in a couple days, so the Bullseye may be gone by now. I guess I missed your other post about this. Just to rub salt in the wound, it was at pretty much old price, instead of the $32 - $35 a pound.

For the record, shooting these as is was never a consideration for me. If I got any it would be to pull them and reuse the appropriate components.
