With all this craziness going on, I've been thinking of carrying on the regular again. I gave up the J frames a few years back. I wasn't really carrying anymore, due to being uncomfortable carrying full size firearms.

Took a ride to one of the LGS to see what was in the cases... nothing used really. All new with that... ugh... you know. [emoji6] I've been thinking maybe I want a 640 no dash or maybe a 940.. Just trying to find one here in MA could be tricky.

A J-frame in the pocket is much better than a full-size bottom-feeder you left in your safe.

Since you said "pocket carry" you should take a good look at the M&P 340. It's got a sight picture that is better than any other J, very accurate, and weighs under 14 oz with the ability to shoot 357 Magnums.

I had a M&P340CT before and experienced crimp jump often. Not bad enough where it was binding the cylinder, but didn't want it to be that 1 time. Although, I have been thinking about another one...

If you went with a newer 640, you would have the option of changing the front sight.

Airweight/AirLites are great for pocket carry. I prefer the M638 with it's cockable shrouded hammer.

LOOK FOR A 642-1. THEY ARE AVAILABLE, AND DO NOT HAVE THE IL. SLAP ON A SET OF CT LASERGRIPS, AND YOU ARE GOOD TO GO. MINE WEARS THE LG-405s, THAT FEATURE THE PADDED BACK TO REDUCE FELT RECOIL………...

Or you could raise everyone's blood pressure here and get a 442/642 with the IL! It will serve your purposes quite nicely, and a used one where I'm from go in the low to mid 300s.

I like my original 640 and still carry it.
May pick up a 640 Pro Series, not for the .357 but for the sights.

I vote for an Airweight like the 442 or 642 pro if you can. Granted a 640 or 649 would be nice.

One of three 640 no dashes. This one's my pocket carry.

I tried the 442 and 642 but in the hand, they just didn't feel right IMO.

That's a nice looking 642. What kind of grips are those? I'd like some slightly longer grips on my 642. Those look to be speed-loader friendly too.

Yes, as a couple of folks have stated they Herrett's Shooting Ace grips. They are speed-loader friendly. Best combo I've found for my hand and J-frames.
