Back to the J...

Love the 640, but was too heavy for me in the pocket or ankle holster. Went to the 642, like it a lot, but not the quality gun the 640 was. Miss the smoother double action. The 642 is my go to concealed gun with the XDs.

Anyone who likes the idea of shooting .357 Magnum in a 14 ounce revolver is a better and/or crazier man than I, but that's neither here nor there. :D:D

I don't mind the weight of a 640 no-dash in a pocket. I've carried one that way for a good many years.

For an up-close-and-intensely-personal SD gun I don't worry much about the size of the sights. I had an orange insert put in the front blade of mine, which helps, but I don't anticipate a need for long, precise shots with a J-frame.

Just a huge UNC basketball fan. After 26 years of following them, my wife got me tickets against BC in February [emoji41].

I'm sure there's guns I can get and have them shipped here. I just don't know which ones exactly. We have 2 lists and a lot of who knows lol...

I vote for an Airweight like the 442 or 642 pro if you can. Granted a 640 or 649 would be nice.

The drum roll you hear is member Kasskop49 on his way. :D

My reputation precedes me. There's really nothing I can add. Everyone else has said it as well as I can. Not quite, almost as well. The J-hounds are my acolytes.

As much as I like the 442 and 642, and the Centennial design, my vote goes to Shield.

Holds about 50% more ammo, less felt recoil, lighter trigger pull, easy to hit the target, 9mm in a "premium load" is a better stopper than premium 38 Special, faster follow-up shots, easier faster reloading, and less in the way of service issues as the 9mm auto will require less service and last longer. Plus, I think the Shield is just as easy to pocket carry as a J frame, which encourages carry. The other features encourage practice, and no matter what anyone says, a J frame is simply not comfortable to shoot over the long haul.

A revolver is a work of art.
A pistol is a machine.
Depends on my mood on what I carry.
But kudos to everyone who does.

Unload a cylinder full of 38 in a timed / stressful event and you dont even feel the recoil in the least.

When shooting drills I don't feel the recoil from my 642 but I do when target shooting.

Springfield? Yeah you may wanna slip a J frame in your pocket time to time. HAHA just keep checking the forums (here, armslist, etc) you'll find a 640 sooner or later. 940 maybe but here in MA you'll pay throught the nose. I bought a 640 no dash last year with CT laser grips for $400.
