Who knows you CCW?

Close family, a few close friends and of course ya'll. :p

Most people at work and school know I hunt and do some handgun competition shooting never say anything about carrying.

I'm from Dallas and assume all native Texans and the like (southern drawl folks) are carrying. And, I assume foreigners and northeasterners are not. In my circle, it's not talked about often cause we all carry and it's just second nature...we have each others back. Never talked about outside the circle though.

I see you've never been to PA. ;)

My family, my 2 best friends, and my hunting buddies. The only people who potentially might need to know that. With my hunting buddies it's more of a "well what do you carry" kind of thing because most of us CC all the time.

Interesting bias. I know plenty of Texans that don't carry. My neighbor in fact, and he works in a LGS.

According to this information, Texas has near the lowest percentage of folks with carry permits.

My parents since I got my license with my father and a few friends that also CCW daily.

My family and close friends know I hold an IL CCL, but they don't know when I'm carrying. I'm carrying concealed, not broadcasting to everyone that there's a gun on my hip.

No one knows when or if I'm carrying. Retired LEO, so everyone knows I may be carrying. Never been asked and I've never felt inclined to tell anyone

The thing that I really don't understand about this thread is all the responses essentially saying " My wife doesn't even know when I carry."

I've known my wife for 18 years and we've been married for 16. I was carrying a gun on our first date (although she didn't know it then) and nothing has changed since. She happened to walk in the room while I was typing ths post and I asked her "Linda, do you ever even question that I'm carrying a gun?" First she looked at me like I'm an idiot ( I get that look a lot) then she said "No." and walked out of the room

My wife doesn't even know I have a license.

One friend who has one himself and encouraged me to get my license knows. That's all.

Same here. I have a "slightly" different issue. She knows I have a Beretta PX4 but doesn't know about the other 10 "items". I paid for them with proceeds from selling off some of my vintage stereo collection so nothing came out of "family money", so to speak.

A few women I've talked with (who don't know my wife) say;
"she doesn't need to know". I'd like to hear if other guys have the same "problem"...........the problem being - I'd like her to know but I'm not willing to risk the hell fire and brimstone that might follow my revelation, should I decide to mention the rest of my "collection."

And, she doesn't know I have a carry license.

I just asked my wife , she says that sooner or later your wife will find out so you might as well get it over with.

Beyond that I'm not going to get any further into this discussion than to say I can't imagine being married to someone that I practice that level of deception with

Or Maine. The 2nd amendment is alive and well up here.

I dealt with the license situation by paying for my wife to attend class too.

As for the toys, I don't bring up what we have, or when I might acquire a new one, but I don't hide them either. They are right out in the open. She couldn't tell a 410 pump from an AR-15 though so if something new shows up she won't notice.

Loose Lips Sink Ships

My wife knows I have a CCW, but I've never told her when I'm actually carrying, and she's never asked. I'm pretty sure she's not aware that I am.

My wife and I have opposing viewpoints on handgun ownership and the concept of carrying a concealed weapon. She steadfastly refuses to see ANY reason whatsoever for defending herself by killing or injuring someone who is posing an imminent threat to her or me or our kids whereas I do. That's ok, in a paternally protective sense to me; i'm willing protect her if the situation arose.

I've carried too many times to count now while the two of us have been out and about, and she's NEVER said a word about it, so I'm guessing she's either unaware or just resigned to the fact that I'm going to do it whether she likes it or not.

Insofar as others knowing about my CCW, I've told one close friend, a sister and her husband, and that's it. My sister's husband carries, too, so they understand. Once, during a conversation between my sister and my wife, sister told her she was comforted with knowing that her husband carried, but I don't think the admission particularly resonated with my wife.

I've mentioned to a few coworkers that I own guns, and now I sort of wish I hadn't told them. Just too much loose casual conversation that's out of my control, ya know?

my wife, the guys at the LGS where i work part time, and me. many may have an inkling, but i'll never confirm or deny... drives 'em nuts. let 'em wonder, it may just give you the "drop" should the need arise.

seems to me a lot of us hubbies get that look all to often!
