So I bought a 28-2 on Gunbroker little over 2 weeks ago. It shipped out last week on the 4th. Should be 2 day priority expected delivery on the 6th. Only USPS never updated the tracking after 6 PM on the 4th. So it being 5 days since anything updated on their tracking I called up USPS this morning and they didn't have any information. The guy I talked to really couldn't care less about my issue you could hear it in his voice he did trouble himself with starting an investigation and told me it could take up to 72 hours. So now i'm stuck twiddling my thumbs. Has anyone else experienced this with USPS? I have ordered a number of guns online but have never had them get delayed like this. The package was insured but i'm still worried its disappeared and ill be out the cost of the gun which would make me a bit more then frustrated.

Do you mean United States Postal Service or United Parcel Service?

I had UPS jerk me around for six months in the late '70's when they delivered a 29-2 to the wrong address. I finally had to file a stolen gun report with the local sheriff before they would declare it lost and pay up. To this day it is still listed as missing.

I'm talking about the United States Postal Service. I have had some other small issues but they haven't lost anything of mine yet.

I find the most arrogant unhelpful people there. Two Billion loss in three months and this kind of customer service? It just needs to go away. I have worked customer service jobs a large part of my life and I can tell you I would have been fired instantly for everyday occurrences there. Sure I have meet some really great people behind the counter but sadly that has been an exception.
Good luck I hope it works out OK.

I second everything quoted above. It's sad that this is what is to be expected from a government agency that should be head and shoulders above the other shippers that frequent our doors.

Funny timing on this! The USPS just lost my sister-in-laws eyes! She is blind as a result of diabetes and has false eyes that she sent to be cleaned. The lab sent them back but they have not shown up. USPS just says "sorry, we lost them"! Now it gets bad, the lab only insured them for $100... let's just say they cost many times that!

I currently have a adjustable trigger for my G26 in USPS limbo. Left Anaheim CA on Monday 3/2. No other updates on USPS tracking. Should have been here on Thursday. Should have paid the extra $5 for insurance, but on a $40 item I didn't. I wonder if the weather last week has something to do with it.

Generalized ranting with no connection to the situation presented by the OP doesn't really help here.
I wouldn't have waited five days with no movement; I've had a few constipations with USPS shipments, and I always contact the shipper first, primarily since the insurance is his, not mine, and any loss will need to be worked out with him. Then we both contact the USPS at our ends. So far the item always popped up a couple days late usually related to some weather event or misdirection without any further ado, sometimes before the tracking updated.
When telling the post office that there was a firearm in the missing shipment, I've never had any problem getting their attention.
This all of course assumes that all was done right with the shipment, shipped FFL to FFL, Form 1508 filed etc.

My USPS has a huge sign of things that cannot be mailed and guns are one of them

Handguns can be shipped USPS but only between FFL's.Long Guns can be shipped via USPS by a Private Party. For those that say the USPS needs to "go away" I hope You will enjoy paying $1.00 for a simple letter and $100 to ship a Handgun. To the OP,Your Gun will arrive just hang in there. With all the bad Winter Weather things have been getting all screwed up.

Terrible weather has delayed all carriers. Especially the USPS AND FedEx. I have 8 shipments that are delayed all from the South to the North. Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Missouri.

I'm hoping they show up soon. Frustrating but what can Ya do.

I actually should apologize now. It is partially my fault. I may have kept them far too busy sending back too many self addressed, postage free envelopes to all of those junk mailers who send me stuff. :D

But seriously, I have been lucky where I am at. Sent many a care package to the boy while he was deployed in the Navy and they never lost a one. Of course they just had to get it to a NY FPO and the Navy took it from there. An amazing process when you think of it.

I'm hoping it was just the weather will just have to wait and see at this point. I contacted USPS this morning it was due for delivery Friday i didnt do anything on saturday hoping it would work its self out. Nothing happens at the post office on sunday so i waited until today. It was sent from FFL to FFL which is why they can use USPS. I also contacted the seller just waiting to hear back from everyone now. I hate the waiting game...

Well this makes me feel a little better. I figured weather was a possibility.

I had a revolver coming by Priority Mail to my FFL in East Tennessee from upstate New York back in February during the worst of the weather. It took ten days for it to reach my FFL with no updates shown by the USPS tracking. Took another ten days for me to be able to make it the 30 miles to my FFL. Then another four days for the TBI background check system to recognize my FFL's identification - things in Nashville were balled up by the weather just like Thomas was before the Battle of Nashville.

All in all, a test of patience that I barely passed.

The USPS does not guarantee a package will be delivered in two days. It will give you an expected day/date of delivery. Also, keep in mind that although your package may have shipped via USPS, the USPS is not the only agency moving your package. You don't say where your gun is coming from, but chances are pretty good it rode on an airplane. And guess what? The USPS does not fly mail. It has no fleet of airplanes. Your mail is flown via FedEx, UPS, and commercial airlines. And your package does not always go directly from one city post office facility to the one in your town.

You bought the gun "a little over two weeks ago"? Two weeks ago would be back around February 24, but it's the postal service's fault the seller didn't ship your gun until March 4? Are you kidding me?

Frankly, there isn't enough information in your original post to warrant condemning the postal service for poor performance.
