Are The French Police Armed With Mini-14s?

Different rear sight too. Notice under the left thumb of the guy on the left. Funny that Oklahoma State Patrol was mentioned in this thread. I remember a few years ago an OSP gun that was posted for sale, somewhere. It had a similar stock, no checkering, no recoil pad, but had the same type of sling cut in the stock. Also had conventional rear sight, and I believe it was a GB model. Was blue, not stainless. Anybody got one of these? Gotta be a rare bird, I've never seen another one.

Also not sure how you can tell from the photo that there is no selector switch. The resolution is too low... I have an AC556 totally reliable and decently accurate as full autos go...

In about 1984 I bought a orange Mazda RX-7. I had it two weeks and was cruising down a country single lane highway and this car pulls out of side road right in front of me, so I swerve off the road at about 60 mph and slide sideways through a field and roll over on my side. I wasn't hurt but was a little mad that my new car was now totaled, and pretty quickly an Oklahoma highway patrol trooper pulls up and is talking to me with his car door open. On the bottom of his driver door was a stainless factory folding stock mini-14 with 20 round mag held upside down to the door with two crudely made U-shaped brackets. I think OHP was one of the first agencies to issue rifles to every trooper.

I can't remember my wedding anniversary but I can remember certain guns like it was "yesterday".

*** I also forgot my Wedding Anniversary once ! BUT JUST ONCE! It is amazing how suddenly a bright sunny day can turn into a dark cloudy day

I In this last replay one of the officers had his rifle across his chest and I swear it's a Mini-14. Anybody notice that?

That goes a long way to explain why the French are having problems with their War on Terror.

Ours, of course, is a leadership problem

I was in the waiting room of a doctor's office this morning and the small low quality blurry tv on the wall had nonstop cnn coverage of that incident. It looked like a couple of the French swat were carrying mini 14s and that did surprise me.
what took the cake was while that image was on the screen a cnn reporter describing their weapons talked about how powerful they were, able to shoot clean through cars and telephone poles.
that was enough for me, I tuned out the coverage and snoozed until my name was called.

I am so new to this forum, i am reading the user agreement while i type! Anyway, It seems you guys are the only people who noticed those Mini's. They are marked Musqueton A.M.D.-5.56- A.P. on top rear of receiver like garand. They are not all full auto. Some have standard sights, some are mounted forward of receiver. I am told by friend in france, that They are more accurate than US civilian version, maybe also special ammo the french use in them too. There is a french 'gunbroker' site that has a few for sale around €300, $350. The stocks go for €70 with handguard and recoil pad. The complete guns are neutrilised according to french law, but receivers are not touched, and wood looks nice, it would be dank to get one here, maybe sneak one into canada, then here in states. I also remember watching bbc a few years ago and a reporter state " the man had an UZI type derringer!" I have been searching the globe for that one. Haa!

Will one of the owners of those Manurhin MR-88 or F-1 revolvers please explain what looks like a crane lock and post pics with cylinder swung out, so we can see how it works?

I know that many Rugers of that generation have some play in the cranes. Was this pin a valid fix? How's it work?

Andre-

Are you saying that there are only 100-120 members of the CRS? I thought there were many more.

There are even more Texas Rangers than that, and they are an elite investigative force.

T-Star, I think he means that each CRS company is 100/120 men, but I'm not sure. And I don't know how many companies of CRS they have.

I was in France a couple months before the recent chaos. They had, and likely still have, random patrols all over Paris. And by 'all over' I mean like 'inside the Louvre', 'on the metro trains', etc...randomly all over town.

These guys were loaded to the gills with those 'famas' things in the early pics plus M9s. Did I mention that they were randomly just about everywhere? It was QUITE impressive.

Though I must admit I saw ZERO M-14's or revolvers and I was paying attention...whenever I wasn't staring at all the hot women. Now that I think about it...there were a LOT more hot women than heavily armed troopers...Ce La Vie.

I was just watching a replay on FOX of a number of French police moving down a street. I had noticed earlier some of the police were armed with wood stocked rifles but I couldn't tell exactly what. In this last replay one of the officers had his rifle across his chest and I swear it's a Mini-14. Anybody notice that?

Good news is there will soon be a special on "once dropped rifles" on AIM surplus.
