This is a great thread. Some really sweet guns here. What a great idea for a collection.

Missouri State Highway Patrol issue revolver, 38 Special Combat Masterpiece with 5 inch barrel.

The revolver is shown with issue swivel holster, double ammunition pouch, handcuff case, and Sam Browne Belt with shoulder strap. Note that the Dee rings are affixed not to the belt, or to removable keepers, but to the belt tunnel on the holster itself. Leather was made by Dehner's of Omaha, who refers to it as the "Missouri Style." All holsters for MSHP were made to hold a 5 inch revolver even though MSHP switched to the 4 inch Combat Masterpiece in 1954. This simplified stocking requirements for replacement holsters. Weapon belongs to a friend, who allowed it to be photographed for an article written by myself, fellow SWCA member Russ, known on this forum as "Linde," and Roy Jinks.

THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME I HAVE POSTED THIS SUGGESTION. IMHO, WE NEED A MASTER "LIKE" BUTTON, FOR THREADS LIKE THIS. I LIKED EACH AND EVERY POST AND EACH AND EVERY PICTURE IN THIS THREAD. THE FIREARMS ARE FANTASTIC, AND THE PHOTOS ARE GORGEOUS…..

Unfortunately when decommissioned the Washington State Patrol stamps were ground off the back strap. On mine you can just make out the first three letters. It sure is a great shooter.

Man, that's a bummer.

I guess that renders it worthless, so I'll be happy to take if off your hands. Least I could do for a forum member;)

I grew up in Wolf & Klar country, so a 3rd model would hold some extra meaning for me. But alas, I should have thought of that 30 years ago, when at least some were still below four figures.

There is currently a S&W MISSOURI HIGHWAY PATROL COLLECTORS SET 1931-1981 NIB on Missouri Armslist.

It is not my listing. Just posting this to enrich the thread.

These P&R 66s & 66-1s are from New Hampshire State Police, Wyoming Highway Patrol, Minnesota State Patrol and the Ga. Alcohol & Tobacco Taxation Unit (Dept. of Revenue):

Here is a 1941 vintage M&P that letters to the Vermont State Police:

....the .38-44s are from Arkansas State Police & Colorado State Patrol. The 686 is from the Iowa State Police. The 4" 65 is from the Mass Registry -Motor Vehicles which merged into the state police. The 3" 65 is a Ga. Parole Board gun.

More to follow ......

Best,
Charles
