How much did you pay for your M&P Shield?

I payed $485 tax included for my Shield .40, seems a bit overpriced but I'm happy with it. :)

If I wanted the Shield with the thumb safety I would have paid $349.99. However, because I opted for the Shield model without the thumb safety, it was a little more, $379. I believe that is because it is a newer model and they didn't have as many in stock. Regards, Elliot45

Mine was shipped from Kentucky late Monday afternoon and arrived in Sierra Vista, AZ at 7:05 AM today.

Still a very good buy! That is the same model I opted for and I am quite pleased with mine!

I paid $430 out the door at Gander Mountain yesterday for the Shield 9 mm

What, after all, is so special about the 9m Shield? I just bought one. Took it to the local range and ran a box of 50 through it. Works perfectly, no ftf, no fte; is accurate, fits my hand well. But so do a lot of other small nines. The Kahr, Keltec, Glock 26, Ruger LC9s. etc. I bought it from Bud's, picked it up at the LGS, took it home, and was somewhat put off by:

1. it was bigger than I expected (my fault, I suppose, for not checking dimensions) and therefore won't fit easily into Levi-style jeans. Goes in the pocket with diffulty, doesn't come out easily. Works better in Carharts, especially with a DeSantis Nemesis. So I'm carrying in an OWB. It weighs about the same as my Ruger SP101 with the 8+1 setup and conceals about the same using OWB's..

2. Magazines are truly amazing! They are the first magazines I've ever had to give up on: I couldn't fully load them because of the ridiculously stiff springs. Had to order an Uplula which hasn't arrived yet. Which means at the range I shot both mags, then spent at least 20 minutes trying to reload the magazines. After I returned from the range I reloaded the mags and intend to let them sit, loaded, for a week to see if the springs might break in a bit.

On the plus side I intend to keep it. It is well built, does shoot well, and holds more rounds than my SP101. And it's a single stack so it's slimmer than the Ruger.

Those springs define tight, don't they? I did the same thing: ordered the Uplula AFTER the Shield and on break-in day at the range, shot 275 rounds using the two stock magazines that came with the pistol. Thumb joint was a bit sore.

Wished I had the Uplula--but I did fully load both magazines and let them sit for a week until I went to the range to shoot those 275 rounds. And that sitting for a week loaded really made a difference...you'll be glad you did it.

BTW, I paid $340 out-the door from my LGS/Range with the LEO/Military price. They deducted $15 off the price for rental of the Shield I used to compare with Glock 43 and XDS. Not a bad deal. The best price I found on the internet (using wikiarms) was $301 with shipping an additional $20-25 (then add FFL transfer fee). Surprise--a local transaction worked out better for me than the online.

Smith and Wesson rep here a few days ago told me the Shield was still the best selling gun that Smith makes and that the sales have actually picked up since the Glock 43 was released!
