I was told that I am part of the problem with guns

I've spent my entire life trying to fly under the radar.
Being the invisible man is a good thing.
I value privacy over fame.
I've always hid the fact that I carry.
I'd rather go unnoticed.
I don't like attention.

If he chooses to be a potential victim, don't remove his rose colored glasses for him. If he feels that strongly about it, ignore him and move on. If he refuses to be ignored, tear him a new rearend and tell him to keep his opinions to himself. It's a right, whether he likes it or not, so he needs to tolerate it. As long as practicing your right doesn't infringe on another person's rights, he has no grounds to say anything.

Not sure what youre getting at. He has every right to tell you whatever it is he wants and you need to tolerate it.

Baloney. If I don't like your posts I can "ignore" you. In person I can simply walk away. Who's going to stop me? If a person has the right to speak their mind, they also have the right to walk away. I don't have to tolerate anything I don't want to. Especially those that like to hear themselves speak.

You missed my point. He was saying (as i understand) a person does not have the right to say whatever they want to someone else. But in reality that person can say whatever they want to that person (within reason).

One of my favorite sayings : "Thank you for sharing that with m{e " .

I dropped my crystal ball and it broke, now I have to carry my gun everywhere I go. :D

And to answer the question, YES, move theaters are a dangerous places now a days.

My wife knows I carry. She knows how I carry and where the extra magazines are kept. She knows how to load and shoot our weapons. We casually discuss our "environment" when we are out in public and she doesn't hesitate to tell me when she spots something unusual. She automatically expects me to position myself to "see the room" and purposely doesn't block my views. She doesn't tell anyone I carry, but will check to make certain I am. It has become second nature to her, too.
Not paranoid, just covering each others back.

Maybe get some new friends who aren't liberals?
And again, lots of liberals own guns. The vast majority of people are a combination of liberal and conservative. Anti-gunners are anti-gunners and come from all walks of life Better advice would be 1) concealed is concealed, and 2) make new friends at the LGS or range. There is no evidence that the OP was talking to a liberal. He was talking to a jerk, and jerks can usually be ignored and avoided.

I would try to point the conversation towards something else. If they were to continue be jerks I would get away from them. Also, If I couldn't tell my wife I have a CCW then I wouldn't be married to her. But opinions may be different.
My wife is the one who bought me my pistol for Christmas. We went to the range for our anniversary in January, and had my birthday at the range in March. She is the one who encouraged me to get my CHL. She is going to get hers, but she isn't in a hurry.

I had become lax about carrying. Meanwhile I was getting on in years. My abilities with brute strength and with martial arts has gradually eroded.

Two Sundays ago, at church, two middle eastern men, one carrying a Koran, came in and seated themselves just to the left of my wife. There is a nest of them just across the interstate, thanks to our good hearted politicians. As best as I could tell, they were not armed, but never again.

Last Sunday I was armed, and I will be from now on. Our church has always been gun friendly, the senior pastor being the chief proponent. I'm trying to get back into the habit at least with an airweight J-frame in my pocket. I suddenly realize that I'm too old to fight. I need an equalizer.

I love my wife and we have a great relationship.

But she can't keep a secret to save her life.

If I told her I had a CHL and carry, all my family and friends would know within two weeks. Then I'd have the OP's problem big time.

Add to that she has very poor hearing and consequently doesn't realize how loud she talks.

I can just see us enter a restaurant and her asking me (in a voice everyone in the place can here):

"Do you have your gun on you, or can we sit in the bar tonight?"

I work 3 blocks from a mosque, and mother of the houses around are owned by them. On Fridays you can not leave on time because they have all the streets all and parking lots full. Officers have to direct them across the streets at the lights. I have been amazed that some dummy has not plowed through.
I am glad they havent.

Any place that is a well known gun free zone is a dangerous place. Sine there has been at least a couple theater shootings now, there are always copy cats out there.

.I get your point, but the advantage to not telling her is a good one. If she doesn't out you, no one will.

Took my wife years. LOL.

I love the ones who own guns but feel others shouldn't. The other ones I just love to hear from are the ones who say they are strong supporters of the Second Amendment and hunting. Because we all know the Second Amendment is all about hunting...

Practice, practice, practice, more practice. Know that one gun completely. Be the best you can be with it. Know that gun better than your wife. At the range practice target acquisition. Get really good at it. Try multiple target acquisition too multiple bulleyes.

I took my 338wm, after benchrested with two bullets throughout the same hole at 100yds. I stood up hand held at four bullseyes rapid fire as fast as I could run the bolt and the target acquisition I was 1" from each x ring.

Know your weapon. Get good with your weapon your families life may depend on it. Nowadays no place is safe.

Only small fraction of the population see a need to carry a gun. For example in Texas a mere 3% of adults have a carry permit. And my guess is that a lot of those don't carry much if at all. But hey, about 20% feel the need to put a burning stick of tobacco in their face and suck on it. Go figure, right? Plenty of guys at the Club got a carry permit over the years just so they knew it would't be a problem toting guns in the car going to and from the Club or to keep one in the glovebox. No interest whatsoever to carry.

I'm not the least bit interested in trying to explain myself to someone with such an attitude as the OP describes. I understand that even well grounded folks, including tons of intelligent and thoughtful gun owners, simply see no reason to carry a gun. Don't care.
