What are you guys using for a bullseye optic on a model 41? Mine had a 4x leupold but I did not like it, the eye relief would not work with my long arms and the eyebox was small. For practice I have just been using a trs-25 bushnell I had around. I have never shot bullseye but would like to start this winter, I joined an indoor club close to me with a winter league.

Currently I am thinking about a matchdot 2, maybe with lower rings.

I also just picked up a 6.5" clark barrel for the 41, I plan on testing it vs the factory barrels I have. It looks really nice at least, hope it shoots as nice as it looks. Thx Dan

Ultra Dots in their many configurations are the most popular scopes for bullseye pistol shooting. They are popular for their reasonable cost, durability, light weight, repeatable click adjustments of windage and elevation and last, but not least their lifetime warranty.

Ultradot or Aimpoint
Alpha and Omega of bullseye sights.
Ultradot is my pick for everything.
Especially when the going gets dirty:

Which do you like to use for BE shooting the plain dot or dot and circle, or cross and dot? I really like my Ultradot the best of any of my red dots and think I have had it on every gun I own except for the gun I want it on, That is my Gold Cup NM and I just find it hard to pay for 10 holes drilled and tapped for the mount. 90% of the time its the 2 MOA dot. Need that for precision. At times I go to a larger dot when lighting conditions dictate.
Never used the circle or cross reticles.
Also use screw-in neutral density filters rather than the double polarizer that comes with the optic.
Thinking of putting one on a 1911. Believe I'd use the Clark slide mount.

Look at the Les Baer mount that is the one I want for my Gold Cup. I have a Mako mount on my 9mm FS M&P that attaches to the lower rail but it flexes to much for me. Don

I need a rail like that for my GP-100 where did you get that one if I may ask? Don

Ok guys, how is my optic position? I have some lower rings on order too.

Its all about the balance that works for you.
Back as far as possible.
Don't believe moving it forward would be of any benefit.
I always toss the Ultradot rings for lower ones.

I agree with pinto. I put mine back as far as possible. The closer the scope is to you the less pronounced scope movement seems.

Pinto's also right about those Ultradot rings; at least the 30 mm ones. Each pair has gone in the parts bin probably never to be used. Either they won't close up tightly on a Weaver style base or the cross bolt rests on top of the base and the groves don't line up properly. A sad set of rings for such good scopes. I recommend you replace them with another brand of Aluminum rings. Don't go for steel rings, unless you really want the weight.

I have a low set of aluminum rings on order w/o the cross bolt, I'm thinking that will help with less bore offset and letting me slide it back a bit too. I am as far rear as I can go with the factory rings, the groove at the back of the barrel is not deep enough for the bolt to go across.

My only concern is with a clamp-only ring an no cross bolt in the slot about it maybe moving, but then again a lot of 22 rifles just clamp on the 3/8 dovetail and it is not like it has a lot of recoil. I'll update pics later in the week with the new mount and hopefully some test results.

Got some new low 30mm vortex rings, had to mill the rear stud on the ring clamp by .050 to fit the reduced depth groove at the back of the barrel. I really like the matchdot now that it is moved back. Sighted in with cci sv ammo. Haven't tried too much through it yet, it did seem a bit more accurate with norma tac black box ammo. Haven't tried any Eley or more expensive 22 yet but I know the gun is already more accurate than the shooter!
