To what extent do you eat Hormel's canned meat product, Spam?
I like the 25% lower salt version and tried the Teriyaki version. Pretty good, but the skillet was hard to clean of the black cooking residue. I gather that in Hawaii and on Guam, they get a variety of flavorings. Spam is very popular there.
Years ago, a Spam can of the smoke-flavored product featured a Randall Model 3 knife on the can. I investigated, with both Hormel and Randall Made Knives giving me enough info to publish an article on it. That ran in, "Knife World".
If anyone is really interested, I'll summarize that article.
I need to see when Spam originated. I know it was used a lot to feed US troops in WW II and later.
Because of the salt and preservatives in it, I'm reluctant to eat much Spam. But it's good with Grey Poupon's Country Dijon mustard and with the sauce from Ranch Style beans.
And it's cost effective, especially for those on a fixed income.
I get two meals per can. Sells where I buy it for $2.79 a can.
And it tastes good.
