New Flavor Spam & Chips

I've been eating Spam for a looong time.

Here's a little tidbit that you probably didn't know.
When we were fighting in the island campaigns during WWII, we ran into a lot of natives that had had little or no contact with whites. Some were headhunters, some cannibals, and some both. In order to ally them with us, and protect downed pilots and stray servicemen, we had to stop the anti-social native behavior.

Guess what worked? That's right boys and girls, SPAM!!! Turns out, it tastes the closest to **GASP** human flesh!!! As long as we kept the Spam flowing, our folks were safe.

Try not to think about that.

What goes the best with Spam/human flesh: mustard or ketchup?

I don't eat Spam, When I was In Viet Nam in 1968 My unit was detached for the main base and we had to purchase our own food from a commissary in Saigon. We would send our mess request to the commissary. One month all the meat we got was 20 5lb tins of chopped ham in natural juices or What you gentlemen call SPAM. I ate spam every day 3 times a day for 35 days, I have eaten it fried, baked, broiled, boiled, grilled, glazed. It tasted like Spam. I got so tired of it I would eat the C-rations of lima beans; those lima bean were thrown in a box or given to mama-san. Now I like sardines, smoked oysters, Vienna sausages, and potted meat.

I was in the regular Army from '60-'67 including a tour in VN. I've had GI "Chopped ham in natural juices". Trust me, by the 1960's the salty, greasy, tasteless, pink, low bid contract, mystery meat you got from the mess hall was not real "Spam."

Spam? Really? With all we have to eat here?
Sorry to all here that like it, but I just don't get it.

Aloha,

Jessie, you've never been in a Pacific ocean location during a Hurricane or

Typhoon and had to wait for the USN Navy to come rescue your island.

What clears out First in any market is Spam, toilet paper, rice and water.

Next or at the same time is Long Lines at gas stations.

Hardware stores run out of Blue tarps, nails and sheets of plywood.

I have 2 Honda generators as do several of my friends. We all have lots of 6 gallon boat gas tanks.

Not to mention adequate supply of guns and ammo.

Now the Wife no longer gives me a bad time about Emergency Supplies.
Especially Spam n Rice.

I understand, lived in Homestead, Fl. During hurricane Andrew. Back up supplies are a must. I just would rather eat Mountain House or home canned food. Spam never did anything for me.

Luv it....almost 50 posts.
I am surprised a Mod didn't shut this thread down
from so much spam.

One more from me and NOT SPAM--sorry. I just discovered last week, that Oscar-Meyer Roasted Turkey Lunch meat--a new flavor of it. Its laced with Jalapeno Peppers (aka) Mexican Pickles :D--and cheese. I tried it--not bad but for me-NOT hot enough.
