What "issue" IS it that we're "discussing"?

NONE of this is anything beyond AT BEST gun control "kabuki theater", and at worst an implacable hatred for and campaign to destroy 2nd Amendment (and other) rights.

If you're looking for "compromise", that's over and done with. We KNOW that for the other side "compromise" is, "We'll take SOME of your rights today, the REST tomorrow."

The choices now are "ALL of our rights" or "NONE of our rights". I choose the former.

Not really, like it or not there is a right and wrong side to this the OP is on the wrong side. Gun owners who give legitimacy to the "reasonable restriction" crowd cause more damage than the anti's

The pro and anti-gun positions couldn't be any clearer, despite the morass of obfuscation, deceit and outright lies propagated by the anti-gun side.

The other side has said it themselves, "America or Australia".

Apart from certain rap "artists" and the Vice-President of the United States, I'm not seeing a lot of people advocating for the IMPROPER user of firearms.

Everybody on the pro-gun side seems to be advocating that people:

• obey the law.
• use sound judgment.
• where applicable, obtain competent training.

And I would add, enforce the laws that currently exist.

It isn't called a discussion if we all just agree with the OP despite how we really feel.

That's ALREADY being done, hence the significant shift AWAY from support for repressive and invidiously discriminatory gun laws.

The message is ALREADY getting out that:

• guns don't just jump off of tables and shoot people.
• the police aren't going to protect you as an individual.
• a good guy with a gun stops a bad guy with a gun.
• self-defense is a fundamental human right.
• harming the rights of non-criminals doesn't impede criminals at all.

Maybe instead, you should be talking to the COMMERCIAL media and ask them why they so militantly refuse to tell the truth while disseminating half-truths and lies.

Please quote me specifically where I said you did...I said you give them legitimacy and you do by using their disingenuous arguments
Is a murder suicide victim any less dead if killed by something besides a gun???
Is the family of a murder or suicide victim any less devastated if they were killed by something besides a gun???
The answer of course is NO...the only reason to separate them out is to shift some or all of the blame to the gun
