NRA Membership...

I upgraded to Benefactor last month (Christmas present to myself) plus have purchased memberships for kids/g-kids, etc.
I've not studied any of it but I think the NRA followed by GOA are likely the best we can support for our rights.
If you're not a member based on something you don't like about the NRA and you're waiting on some other group to support, you'll likely be waiting longer than you will for our rights to be infringed.

In the 70` every gun I purchased had an application to join NRA.
Every gun shop had applications to join NRA.
Word of mouth was effective also.
I remember Project 2 Million and later, Project 3 Million.
Since then, only 2 million more NRA members?
I can only hope, and talk and if lucky be Free!
Jim

Bought my 1st handgun couple of weeks ago (SD9VE). I just joined the NRA a few minutes ago. Every single voice counts, right?

I want to thank you for joining the ranks of us NRA members. If each person who owns a firearm did as you just did, we would be a lot further toward achieving our goal of stopping the erosion of our 2nd Amendment rights.

I agree. And I don't 100% agree with everything the NRA fights for, but as a new gun owner, I want to preserve my right to bear arms. You never know what the future will hold.

Wayne LaPierre

I recently upgraded to life membership. Since i'm 71, I hope I live long enough to get my money's worth.

Yes, Wayne can be strident and doesn't always think before he talks. My dad was a life member and always said we wouldn't have our guns if it weren't for the NRA. I don't always agree with the NRA approach, but I agree that its the big dog in our fight. So I'll overlook some of the BS and continue to support them.

I agree with all the posts here, but I also agree with you re; LaPierre. This guy has been a very good advocate for us for many years, but in recent years he's developed "hoof-in-the-mouth" disease. I wish he'd think before he yaps once in a while:(

Like Inusuit , I upgraded to Life Membership. The announced price increase plus the growing threats to our Second Amendment freedom made doing so a no-brainer.

I'll go one step further. Not only should ALL gun owners join the NRA, you should also join your local gun rights organization. As important as what happens nationally is, the real effect on our gun rights usually come from the state level.

I recently joined. There have always been anti-gun people, but in the last couple of years their voices seem to be getting even louder and growing in numbers. The NRA needs to grow also.

The thing that everyone needs to realize is that the anti's while not giving up on National gun control are changing to local gun control.
We all need to get involved on a local level, in my town we have representative town meeting, I ran and got elected, now I can talk at town meeting, if you are not elected you are restricted whether you can talk about something.
In Lexington they are looking to have a vote on banning ALL semi-auto rifles with a new AWB that says if a rifle is "capable" of accepting a large magazine (not that if there is one made for it) and has "ONE" scary feature, in this case the ability to hold the rifle with the non-trigger hand, i.e. forestock, it would be banned with no grandfathering.
That is scary since other towns will jump on the bandwagon and suddenly instead of a single set of laws we will 253 different sets of laws, one in each town.

Upgraded to Life yesterday. Had been meaning to for a while. It is time.

I don't pretend to be an expert and I did not stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night. However, I thought the issue of "more restrictive" laws at the local level had already been decided as unconstitutional. I thought the lowest level that could pass such laws was the State. Interested to hear from the "more informed".

PS - Our local Town meetings make you register in advance for your 3 minutes of time, including synopsis. They many times allocate that time towards the end of the meeting (midnight). Not sure this is what the founders actually had in mind.....

Voted then upgraded NRA membership

Like the title says. I early voted today then I upgraded my NRA membership from life to endowment .It will never be more important than this election. To be a NRA member and support the 2nd amendment and our Constitution as a whole.I urge all members of this forum to put away our petty grievances and support the NRA.If we do not we our children and grandchildren will lose our right to own, collect and pass on our heritage.

A couple of months ago I took advantage of the $500 offer and got a Life membership for my wife.

After many years of not being a fan of the hobby - she got her CCW permit last year.

As others have said (typed) the membership numbers need to rise - we should keep on our non-member buddies to sign up.

It really bothers me that I have to pay the NRA to represent me. I have already payed (my congressmen) to represent me.

I know they cant sit down and talk with me for an hour or so every 6 months or so to ask me how I feel/think about this that or the other, but.........
They can, put up a poll/questionnaire on their website, and vote in Washington based on their findings. They can give me a straight answer when I write them a letter. Instead of a "tight rope/keep everybody happy" BS answer.

Before you tar and feather me......
My beautiful wife bought me a life time membership for Valentine's Day. What a good girl. Been a member for awhile now.

Going back to what Watchdog said...... They are the biggest dog in our fight.
It is a no brainier to join. Just wish my voice was a big dog, isn't that what our nation was born out of? Regular, honest, hard working folks writing the rules?
Sorry for the rant, but I'm really pissed off........
Bob
