Annoyed at thread drift

Good evening folks it's 67 pleasant degrees in the desert tonight. Should be a couple more days of cool weather then back into the upper 90's next week, summers coming.

Read the thread about things we used to do that we can't do today and boy that brought back some memories. It really is a wonder that more of us didn't kill ourselves back then. But it sure was fun at least most of the time.

The night shift is on guard for the hordes but if it starts raining spiders don't come looking for me. Those things have too many legs if you start wrestling with them you just can't pin them down. And I still haven't found that flame thrower, I know it's got to be here somewhere.

Where did Coach Madden find his birds?

I bet they were hard to catch.

Good morning drifters. It's 59 degrees in the desert this morning and the sun will be up in a little while or at least I hope it will if not it will remain dark and get really cold.

Not much on the drift overnight and I guess this means that everyone got a nights sleep instead of sitting in front of the computer. I actually got a little sleep myself as there were no apparent hordes wandering around.

Have to go to town and buy food again today or go hungry and I really don't like to be hungry. True, I could miss a few meals and it wouldn't hurt me but I like to eat. Plus it's good for me to eat, otherwise I would starve and I figure that's one way I don't want to leave this old world.

Friday

Cool here, low of 43° and 48° right now! The sun just peaked through the clouds!
Really green and as soon as the dew burns off, mowing will begin. Ferns up, other wild stuff blooming, newly planted wildflower seed is up. Leaves getting bigger on the oaks.
Horses were frisky on the way to the pasture, too bad I wasn't? 😞 Wife is off today so she helped.
SS was posted Wed.night, today is payday for my part-time! So will be off for shavings and horse feed. 0.02¢ left in the pocket, so wildness may occur! 😙

BCC, Idaho Cafe in Cork , Ireland, there must be a story with that? Do you know?

* Idaho is an invented word! Mining lobbyist George M. Willing presented the name "Idaho" to congress for a new territory around Pike's Peak, claiming it was a Shoshone Indian phrase: "E Dah Hoe (How)" supposedly meaning Gem of the Mountains.

I was told the Shoshone "Gem of the Mountains" referred to the sun's shining upon the Idaho Tertitories through the mountains and that the cafe owner's brother emigrated to Idaho, both reasons for the naming.
