I did not set out to become a collector of S&W handguns. About 4 months ago I happened on a model 19 from 1959, S#K356xxx and I love it. I n the past month I added a airweight chief S#311XXX, a 5906 S# TZJ5xxx and a K-22, S# 76xxx. I did not go looking for them, they kinda fell in my lap but I pretty proud of all of them. I am plannin g to call S&W soon and get birth years. Now, I am looking for a nice shooter 28.

That can probably be said by most of us here. It's certainly true in my case, although I must confess to being more of an accumulator than pure collector. Still,I do yet possess a few of the classics in "collector-grade" condition. Btw,an average of one a month will turn into quite a pile if you stick to it! ;):D

This is the first step down the slippery slope...:)

The model 36 (no J in front of the SN?) is from about 1963, the K-22 (a K in front?) from 1948, and the 5906 from about 1992. Enjoy!

Thank you! Although I own several autos I find revolvers a pleasure to shoot. It must be the old man in me ;>). Heck, I am old!

Alan, thanks for the serial # info.

I never planned to be one either. But my safe says otherwise. Not exactly sure how or why it ended up the way it did. But what I know is that the journey has been enjoyable and it is far from being over.

All it takes sometimes is to have that first one...

Collector???

I keep telling myself "I'm not a collector...I'm not a collector... I'm not a collector..." Then I look at my safes and what they contain and I'm not sure how much longer I can continue to believe that story. Because all I really ever needed was "just one more"... And this is a small portion of where that attitude landed me:eek:

I AM NOT A COLLECTOR!!! Finally... I'm now convinced I'm not a collector - I'M AN "ADDICT"...:rolleyes::eek:

"Hello, my name is Richard and I have an S&W problem..."

Wow!!!

I'm definitely not that proficient a collector as RKmesa, but I am definitely an accumulator. Just picked up my 36th and 37th off Gunbroker tonight. Only have three that even come close to collector quality.

Innoculation

Richard ... I've considered myself a collector for the past 30 years, yet I am humbled by your collection of only the finest ! I know you had lots of nice S&W's and I knew there were quite a few but ... WOW !!

Congrats ... Sal

Hi, my name is hardcase60 and I have an addiction for S&W's. Like most of you it started out innocently enough. I had retired and wanted a replacement for a 4" revolver from my younger days in uniform. The rest is a sordid tale of accumulation. hardcase60

I am addicted to S&W revolvers also. Started with a 65-3, 3 inch, them a 686-1 snub, just picked up a 19-3 snub, now looking for a 36. Told my wife I may need counciling

I am guessing even if there was a 12 step program for us that have a problem(not ME) there would be a lot of empty seats at the meetings. We don't have no stinkin problem, we just luv what we do.

Y'all are killing me here..... I started with a 19-4 snub and now have a 19-8 (357)4 inch, 66-3 snub and a 642-1(NL) and searching for another treasure. Along the way I have a dresser drawer full of gun leather and assorted grips......arghhhhhhhhhh.
