I'm sure this has been asked but the topic I tried searching wouldn't pull up. What's the difference in the smith m&p 15 standard, and the m&p15or. The reason I ask is bps has a sale on the standard right now for 449, and I'm wondering if the OR is work the other 500 and some change. Both are the .22 caliber

I believe you're comparing a .22LR version to a .223/5.56 version. The most expensive .22LR M&P15 on S&Ws website is only $709 and that's the Performance Center version. While the cheapest .223/5.56 rifle is $739 and the OR version of the .223/5.56 is $1069

I'm honestly not for sure so here's a ss of the one on sale and the OR at basspro

And the only difference is the or will shoot .22 aswell right? Is it really a better deal considering I will have to buy sights for it right now? Giving I will probly just end up throwing iron sights on it at first, and adding a 3x9 later on either one. I got to get a new 8x16 for my hunting rifle offline anyways so I was going to knock them both out at the same time for around 200 bucks

Thank yall for that I guess I was misunderstanding because my wife's parents just picked up the 1000 dollar one and didn't really know what they got so I guess they fed mixed info because they were originally the ones that turned me onto this sale

Your wife's parents spent $1000 and they don't know what they got?

Pretty much seems like it. Their the one that told me about the one on sale being a GREAT deal (in their words) what all calibers will the .223/5.56 shoot out of it? I'm pretty new to the ar just shot 06s 270s, and now that yall made it clear the same thing pretty much a .22 lr that I have in my gun safe, can't beat my 44 short rifle tho I love it in a pinch I the woods

I doubt that they are confused about what they have... hopefully they don't think they bought a .22lr.

The confusion comes from Bass Pro not listing the proper model number on that "standard" rifle... it should be M&P 15-22.

As for the rest, there are rarely great deals to be had from Bass Pro when it comes to firearms.

A 5.56 chambered barrel can shoot 5.56mm and .223. A .223 chambered barrel should not be used for 5.56mm.

Both could shoot .22lr, but requires a conversion kit... basically a hole different bolt... not something they do straight out of the box.

They got 1000 rounds of 223 but when I asked them what caliber the gun itself was they said they didn't know just showed a pic I'm going to continue shopping around for the .223/5.56 model now that I know what I'm looking at/for thank you for the help. Have you ordered one from smith themselves? Just wondering what all will come with it in the box if I get it sent to a lgs

As other's have already posted, one is a M&P 15 chambered for 5.56 NATO and the other is a M&P 15-22 chambered for .22lr.

Both are the .22 caliber

Technically you're correct. Both are .22 caliber. They will both punch a similar diameter hole in paper (the .223 being .003" larger). The difference is the cartridge.

Bass pro as a whole will be 15-20%higher on most items than you can purchase elsewhere, gun especially.

Start your search online for a Smith and Wesson M&P 15 sport II. It will be ready to shoot out of the box for under $600.

And just to give you an idea of BPS price inflation. Buds gun has the M&P 15 OR for $834 shipped.

To the Original Poster, if you have the box/case the rifle came in still, you can go to the Smith & Wesson web site and match the number with what they have listed and get all the little details on what the rifle has.

How do the eagle arms ar15s compete? They seem to be relatively cheaper I read some stuff online about problems accepting and loading bullets out of 30 round mags. Is this true or hogwash?

Looks like another budget rifle.... assuming that you are talking about the new ones.

I'm guessing the new one. Took my wife to a lgs today and seen one on the wall with a 570 price tag didn't know to much about the brand so I figured I'd come home and ask y'all, and look at some reviews before deciding

Eagle Arms is some type of division of Armalite. Armalite is the reason there's an A in AR.

Armalite lists the three rifles by Eagle Arms as having .223 Wylde chamber which typically shoots .223 ammo more accurately and can still handle the pressure of 5.56 ammo.

I read somewhere about the eagle arms offering a 2 staged trigger out the box. Was this false or was it just on older models? I like the two staged because besides defense purposes I'm going to use it as a learning rifle for my wife to start deer hunting with since the recoil isnt that bad
