I bought the Regulation Police 38 S&W (Pre-33) about 2 weeks ago. I'm guessing it was made @1954 or so (#75xxx). It has the longer grip and J frame grips fit it just fine.

Received the leather today. Perfect for lugging around the 'yard'.

Really like the pistol. Where'd the leather come from? I like the style for field carry. Oh and thanks for sharing.

I have one in my database 759xx that shipped Nov 1955, if that helps.

Beautiful!

Yeah a great Kit Gun! "Model of 1953 .38 Regulation Police", on the New I frame, or pre model 33. That's an early one, must be a 4 screw side plate including one screw under the right grip.

I chose the .32 4" J frame Model 30-1, for my Kit Gun and reamed it to 32 H&R Mag, Also made it a target model:

I hate it when people post pics of knives, holsters, etc. and don't ID every item. Maybe it's to make us ask, so they know the thread is being read?

Your gun is better than a .22 for the role usually envisioned for the Kit Gun. I sold my M-34 mainly because it had SEVERE extraction problems. Then, I saw velocity results from one in an article by Don Zutz, whom I knew slightly and considered to be one of the more informed gun writers within his sphere of interests. That did not encourage me to rely on ANY .22 revolver for any but the smallest animals.

My idea of a kit gun is the .38 Special M-60-4. I also have a Ruger SP-101 for when .357 ammo is warranted.

You may wear the gun expecting to use it only if a snake becomes a problem, but larger animals may intrude on a hike or fishing trip, and humans are always a threat. I just don't think a .22 is the answer in this role.

That's a nice holster. It comes up further on the cylinder than does El Paso Saddlery's usual work. I prefer that. Lobo Leather? I had a very nice Safariland M-25 holster, lined and basket stamped, for my M-34. I sold it with the gun. I use an El Paso model VERY similar to the old Safariland M-29 for my M-60-4. Would have kept the Safariland for the Kit Gun, but knew that I'd be buying a three-inch barreled .38 to replace the .22.

The S&W M-36-1 is also a fine small trail and camp gun, but I really think stainless steel is indicated in that role.

Bill Jordan told me that he regarded stainless as the greatest advance in handgun design in about 100 years. I think he may have been right. Harry Archer's accounts of his revolvers in humid South America certainly argued strongly for stainless guns.

I think your .38 S&W loads are a lot better than a .22, but a .38 Special is preferable. Still, many here will want to know about that ammo. Those with British .38-200 revolvers will want to consider using them.

It must be tough being you then. I didn't realize I had an obligation to tell you about everything in the photo. Would you like to know what I used to take the photo with? Time of day? Temperature? Humidity?

Yes it's BB ammo, POI is a tad low at 20 yards. With a 6 o'clock hold they hit right below the sights.

Holster, sorry but right now he's making them at a quick clip and the last several times I let out about relatively 'unknowns' the waiting list went from 2 weeks to 2 years.

It does make it nice when the pictures are labeled as to what you are showing
Like is it horse or cow poop

I apologize, I should have known that S&W Regulation Police 38 S&W (Pre-33) wasn't good enough.

The firearm in the photo is displayed on 3 bricks that were in a pile behind my barn. I'm not certain who made the bricks, but I can look into it.

The green stuff around the bricks is grass. I'm not a horticulturist so I'm not certain as to they type of grass. I'm pretty sure God created it, unless you don't believe in God. In that case I'm pretty sure it just happened.

The ammunition is held in a 5 round Quickstrip. Item number T0814. The Quickstrip was purchased from Amazon (not to be confused with the river or rather tall women). Amazon is an internet/online business used for the purchase of items.

The internet is what I'm utilizing to convey information to the uninformed.

I apologize as I don't recall the cost of the Quickstrips nor the Buffalo Bore Ammo. I'd have to go to the respective internet sites and find my receipts again.

I do recall what I paid for the S&W (Smith & Wesson) Regulation Police (chambered for 38 S&W, not to be confused with Special). I also recall what I paid for the holster.

The purchase price for the holster and firearm are no one's business, regardless if you ate grits with Elmer Keith.

This post had my sides hurting!

Best response I've seen in a while!

Hey! What's wrong with eating grits with Elmer Keith?

Actually, I have had breakfast with Elmer Keith, but don't recall that the Winchester press relations man had grits included in the buffet. It was otherwise an exceptional, generous buffet. Elmer did pour Scotch in his tea, though. First time I'd seen that.

As for the OP, many people who see these posts where someone wants to show off his gun and related items generate reader curiosity about those items and where they can be obtained, if not a common brand. If a common brand, that info is still appreciated by many.

I'm sure that many of us get tired of having to post to ask for that info. No need to get nasty.

If you make posts that are going to cause people to ask for added information, it won't kill you to post that info with the OP. No, it's not required, but it'd be considerate of you to do it. Without the snide sarcasm...

If you don't want to publicize the holster maker, that's your right. I was giving you the opportunity to do so, if you felt like helping him out.

Sorry that this simple request for more info that many here would want to have has ruffled your feathers so badly. That wasn't my intention.

This board doesn't allow personal quarrels, so I won't be replying further in this topic.

We just had a thread about sarcasm. I don't know how the poll turned out because I could never find the poll.

Nice fiveshooter there!

No problem. In fact, if you wouldn't mind I'd love to mail you the holster if you'd be willing to autograph it for me.

Thank you for your consideration and I look forward to learning MUCH from you. I am truly humbled.

Regards,

Scott

PS: The only names I can drop are those of a few hot hookers from San Antonio, can't imagine that will impress anyone, so I'll decline.

If anyone wants to know, please PM me.

Thanks for answering my question on POI. I would really like a holster like that with a flap for outdoor wear.

Yep, no problem, but I almost slipped on the squid slim.....:)

I like the 4 inch kit guns and always wished S&W had made a .38 Regulation Police and/or Model 33 in .38 Special with a four inch tube. I think that they considered the three inch guns close enough. I guess one could have a four inch .22 Kit Gun barrel rebored and remarked but that would be a pretty spendy inch.
