Serial Numbers to be stamped on all ammo cartridges!

Chicago is a cesspool of corruption that pollutes this entire state. Sad. Outside of Crook County, Illinois is not a bad place.

I doubt very much that the Chicago lawmakers know much if anything about terminal ballistics. What about a lead hollowpoint that is sheathed in copper, yet unbonded. The two can easily separate in media. Not to mention fragment. Not to mention most gunshots miss their target and the bullet may never be found.

If there are any sane lawmakers there they would realize this isn't the answer.

I think a lot of you missed the boat. They know this won't affect crime, but it's not about crime. They want to burden law-abiding citizens to the point that we have to give up the sport. They want to encumber the manufacturers to the point they go out of business. They know it's impossible to serialize and register ammo, and the taxpayers wouldn't want to fund it, so they'll place that burden on the industry. The only thing they may not realize is how it will affect law enforcement, since ammo manufacturers may not want to sell inside of Illinois if this were passed.

As of this morning, in Chicago...

447 people shot and killed, 2455 shot and wounded in 2016.

It sounds like they are following California's lead: pass stupid laws that require technology that doesn't exist so manufacturers don't have anything to sell you anymore.

Someone FINALLY got it!! If the law can't be complied with, then the alternative would be..You can't sell the product. THIS is what all this obvious lunacy is headed toward. Don't ever think these people don't have a plan, they just have to throw a few curve balls before the hard fast straight one hits you on the head.

I think they should put a serial number on the forehead of every suspicious person in Chicago. Give that a try first.

...this has nothing to do with crime...it has everything to do with eliminating ammo and turning your gun into a doorstop...

If that were to happen (which it won't), Ammo companies wouldn't comply. It would be way too expensive to retool just for one state. Essentially, no ammo would ever be sold in IL again.

Second, the people (thugs included) would buy it elsewhere, i.e. out of state.

Third, RELOAD!

Maybe that is their Goal...."unintended consequences"

An Illinois Lawmaker wants all Bullets/ammo bought in the State of Illinois to be stamped with a serial number!

ive lived in illinois all my life and this is an excellent idea.......it is sure to be as effective as .....the "war on drugs" program; the National Prohibition Act of 1919; the control of illegal immigration; the elimination of chicago street gangs and george armstrong custer at the the Battle of the Greasy Grass

I wonder if they will next demand serial numbers on cocaine, heroin and meth. Makes as much sense, would get equivalent results.

They can't even control guns in Chicago because they can't control criminals. It's absolutely ludicrous that these morons believe they can keep controlling everything and expect different results.

IMHO, I think Sonya should succeed with this. Then she can be really embarrassed, when it doesn't work. The nation will then see that neither the law, nor Sonya, is effective.

Just HOW are these bullets going to get stamped, exactly,

so that the number doesn't get distorted to the point of

unreadability, once fired?

I suppose it'll be done by the same people that are going to build the wall all along the Mexican border. When they finish, I mean.
