Alice died of fever when the baby was less than a year old. Apes killed John and were about to kill the baby when it started crying. Hungry. Female ape, whose baby had just died, dropped her dead baby in the crib and picked up little Johnny.

Six, eight years later, little Tarzan ("white skin" in ape) found the cabin, and while exploring it discovered his daddy's hunting knife.
