Model 67 or 10

I couldn't decide this exact question.
I found a 67-1 locally.
And a new 10-14 in here in California.

It seems that S&W revolvers should be some of the most common guns in used and consignment shops, but they're not that easy to find here.

At any rate, I ended up purchasing both.

I think they'll end up a little redundant, but the older revolvers are really cool. The 10-14 will hopefully be a good shooter.

Do any of you CCW these 4" K frames?

When in doubt, purchase both :)

I have never tried to carry a 4" K frame, but often carry a 3". With a good belt I almost forget I have it on.

I just picked up a Very nice 67 no dash. Stainless sights and all. The gun has been a safe Queen for most of it's life and looks to have been shot very very little. If it shoots as good as the model 15 that I picked up a few months ago I'm gonna be a happy camper. I'll post up a photo when I get back to the homestead.

Had the chance to go shooting yesterday. Took the 67-5 and it was flawless. Cleaned it and accuracy was right on. Put a set of Altamont target stocks on and felt great and can't wait for a follow up session. Ron

Nice looking piece. The barrel looks thicker then the one on my 67-1.

The later model 15s and 67s have heavier barrels rather than the tapered ones in their earlier iterations.

I just picked up a Model 15-5 from about 1984 with the heavier barrel and being post 1982 it doesn't have the barrel pin.

Basically the Model 15 evolved into a 4-inch Model 14 which traditionally was not 4-inches. Some years ago I did own
a 4-inch 14 that had been a special police department order.

With numbered Smith revolvers, they often evolved. A "classic"
was the Model 10-6 of which some were .357s with recessed
chambers (a special order). Shortly after Smith began regular production and gave it the Model 13 designation.

I have had a few Gun Store employees tell me that if they get a good used S&W Revolver that it doesn't stay in the case for more than two days. People here snag the good ones up quickly.

I have actually been one of those people twice.

I snagged a 629 No Dash 4" right as it went into the case, as well as a 4" 586 as the previous owner brought it into the store. I was doing paperwork on a transfer for a Wilson Combat, saw the 586 and 3 686s get walked in, saw the guy unzip the rug with the 586. I walked right over, explained that I was sorry to interrupt, but said I want that 586, I'd like to call dibs in it, and they said sure.

So guys like me are the problem :-)

Case in point, I truly honestly am good for a while on the guns that I have. I have a great mix of Revolvers, 1911s and modern Sig Sauers. I have a free day to myself today, so what am I going to do? Hit up 3 or 4 Gun Stores that I have never been to so that I can see if they have any cool Smith and Wessons.

K frame carry ...

I recently bought a 3" heavy barrel K frame for carry (Model 547 in 9mm) and while heavy compared to my J frames it is comfortable with a good belt and holster carried AISW.

A dab of "White Out" (typewriter correction fluid) on the front sight makes for quick acquisition

The K frame is very well balanced and comes up to point of aim as naturally as pointing a finger. Even with the stout recoil of the 9mm round it is far superior in sustained fire (Mozambique Drill triple tap) to any other carry gun I have. Well worth the weight and bulk of the K frame to have in hand if you really need a firearm.
