Ivan while I happen to know the difference between a Kilt and a Skirt you need to be aware that due to the horrible public education system in this country for the last 40 years that 99% of those under 40 will perceive you as being someone wearing a Skirt. As a result they will view you as a "cross dresser" and that may lead to a confrontation.

Uhhh. Kilt? There's no way I'm going to dress like a Catholic schoolgirl.
Kidding, of course. However, I'm not even comfortable in shorts, much less a kilt.
I don't wear sandals, either. l prefer protection for my feet, legs, arms, and hands.
You will also never see me riding with a half-helmet, tank top/t-shirt, shorts, sneakers, etc.
I got enough road rash as a kid, that I like abrasion protection for my hide.

How about a jacket that matches your kilt, and a shoulder holster?
Easier access than a belly band or ladies thigh holster.

Although, a Claymore would be sweet. One hit stop.
Bad guys can't do much to you when their heads are rolling on the floor.

I think I can but a pretty good Model of 1926 for what a poor Real Claymore costs! But I really like the idea! (The .455 Webley is a nice idea also.)

On of my friends is so sad, he inherited all his father's Family Tartans, Kilts, jackets, and tams, but outweighs his dad by over 80 pounds! (and he doesn't even like single malt!)

My brother and I used to own a timbering company, I can assure you I'm not that kind of lumberjack. And I don't think I've ever been shopping on Wednesday!

However I'm not sure how to answer for my brother. He has never put on a Kilt, but all of his cowboy boots have very high heals!

The wife and I went to a movie yesterday, I had on my kilts and had my good old 49 in the equivalent of a cargo pocket. It just felt out of place.

I've wearing a skirt didn't feel out of place, I'm not sure why the 49 would have. But seriously if it's a bad place, it seems wearing a kilt might be just asking for trouble.

Mountain Hardwear makes a nice hiking kilt. It really helps when you're hiking up a steep trail; your sweaty pants legs don't drag on your thighs and slow you down.

You are correct! Traditional Kilts have no pockets! The pouch is call a Sporran (see several earlier posts), and takes the place of pockets. However the modern "Utility Kilt" has from 2 to 8 pockets. Mine are a 4 pocket proto type that won't make it to production. Getting the front pockets and the buckle areas to hang correct is a real problem! In fact my 2 front pockets are too small for a 2" J-frame even without a holster! That is why my 49 was down in the cargo pocket.

I'm going to look into (Rephrase that: I'm going to consider) the hiking kilt.
