Is the 2.0 FS trigger better than 1.0?

I've been watching a lot of Youtube vids on the 2.0 FS 9's, and pretty much all of them say the trigger is really not much different than the 1.0 version, although the reset seems more noticeable/improved. But most say the trigger pull is pretty much the same, and many are still putting Apex parts in.

So looking for feedback from y'all on it. Are a lot of 1.0 owners that had Apex parts doing the same work on the 2.0's? Or do many think it's just not needed with the 2.0 trigger?

If lots of folks are still upgrading the trigger or not seeing the 2.0 trigger as much different, it kind of makes me wonder if the 2.0 is that big an upgrade. For $20, I can match the grip upgrade with a Talon kit (have those on 2 of our Shields). And the front slide work is nice looking, but I can't see it being useful as I never work my slides that way. I guess the beefed up lower could be argued an enhancement. Don't know if the 1.0 was flexy enough to cause issues, though.

Just looking at buying my first FS S&W, 5", so wrestling with a lot of stuff. There are some smoking deals on the 1.0's right now. If I have to upgrade the trigger on both, it makes the 1.0 look pretty good. Also looking at the Pro CORE.

I've owned multiple M&Ps-all gen 1. All received Apex upgrades. Just got a 2.0 Compact and the trigger/action on this is far superior to the 1.0 models I had prior to the install of the Apex kits.

It's my understanding that the major difference in the trigger is between the earlier 1.0's and not necessarily the "newer" 1.0's. I've not shot an M&P from a decade or so ago, but I've shot my dad's and uncle's that are about 5-8 years old, and have a new 2.0 compact. For my part I can't tell a significant difference between them. Maybe once the 2.0 gets "broken in"? In my opinion the Apex might be nice, but not necessary too have a good trigger in the modern M&P.

The trigger "system" is different on the 2.0 . Has a sear actuator vs trigger loop . On the 1.0 like the Shield there is a "candy cane" loop that pushes the sear back flat to release striker . On the 2.0 the trigger bar pushes the actuator which then pushes the sear . It makes the system easier to work on .

Between the 1.0 I had several years ago and the 2.0 I have now, to me, yes the 2.0 is far superior.

I have had a few original M&P's and I think the M 2.0 trigger is far smoother than the triggers that I experienced before now. I'm not planning on wasting the money on an Apex trigger. MTCW

I don't know what videos you're watching but the triggers are very different. That being said, I have done trigger jobs on all of my 1.0's and they feel very close to my 2.0's. I don't use any Apex parts.

I owned two M&P's previously before getting my 2.0. I'm not really a trigger snob. All I require is a crisp, predictable break with minimal overtravel and a positive and noticeable trigger reset. Neither of my previous M&P's had any of this. Like presspics above, a little polishing and minor adjustments to the factory parts made mine perfectly acceptable other than I still found the reset mushy and sluggish. My 2.0 was pretty excellent straight out of the box and had a smooth take up, a crisp, predicable break, very little overtravel, and a positive reset. I feel the 2.0 is good to go out of the box without upgrading anything. In fact, I haven't done anything to it and I've been running it bone stock in IDPA and am very pleased with its performance. It could just be me but my 2.0 seems noticeably more accurate than my previous M&P's as well if that matters to you.

The reset is easily fixed by bending the trigger bar inwards slightly.

Not for awhile at least. Need to run some more rounds through before I make a final decision. Right now it's my carry and I like the action/trigger just fine for such use.

I was just clicking on random 2.0 Youtube vids. I was very surprised to hear how many of them rated the trigger as still being the same or minimally improved over the 1.0 models. I thought that was the big selling point to the 2.0 line. And I see threads on the forums where folks have been putting Apex kits in the 2.0's too.

To me, way better... I left mine stock in the M2.0 5" and in my new M2.0 Compact.

My 5" Pro 1.0 version has the full APEX Kit, my 4.25 1.0 version has the APEX springs (stock trigger). The 1.0's needed them (to me), the M2.0's don't (again, to me).

Triggers are very subjective, you've got to try them to know for yourself how you like them, but to me, the M2.0 is a great upgrade.

Before I give you my opinion, let me just state this:
I own multiple M&P 1.0s, and unlike most people, I actually like the triggers on them. More so on the compact version than on my full sized. Never felt a need to change it or install an Apex or anything like that.
That being said, I now own the M2.0 40 cal FS and the M2.0 9mm compact. I personally feel like the triggers on the M2.0s are way better than the older M&P models. Take my opinion for what you will, since I already admitted to liking the triggers on the 1st gen M&ps.

When I got my 9mm Shield I was not feeling good so I gave it to my grandson to give it some range time. He kept telling me it had a good trigger but I did not believe him until I got it back last night. I had read so many negative posts complaining about the trigger that I was surprised to find what I consider to be a very decent trigger. He shot it several hundred rounds and had no failure to fire or eject and no stuck slide. Maybe I just got lucky.

I don't think you got lucky, you just got a standard, works every time Shield. You see more problem threads on here because most of us don't start "Gun Working Perfectly" threads because that would get tiresome.

Rented a 4.25" 2.0 M&P 9mm at an indoor range yesterday. Trigger is for sure much different/better than my 1.0 guns. This one had a bit of stiffness before it actually "hit the wall", but if you only let it out to the reset point (which was VERY noticeable), it was a sweet trigger.

Not sure it's any more accurate, though. I shot my 1.0 40C side-by-side with it (Apex DCAEK trigger) at the same range, and probably had my tightest group with the 40C.
