What's your favorite semi-auto .22 rifle ?

I like my Browning SA-22, one of John Moses last designs. But I carry and use my Remington 241. Just something about it makes it preferable to the Browning even though they are very similar rifles.

I have a Ruger 10-22 receiver and bolt with a custom SS bull barrel and trigger group in one of the last Fajen laminated stocks. A typical 100 yard group on a calm day is 1 bullet hole wide X 3/4" high. The shots string vertically because of velocity difference between bullets.

I consistently get my best groups with CCI Blazer ammo from the mid-1990's. I'm down to my last 15 bricks, 4 bricks plus an unopened case.

EDIT: I just ordered a 110 round drum magazine. Now I can shoot up that "junk" 22 LR ammo I'm stuck with from the shortage days.

15-22 is the most fun. I have two. My others are a Winchester 77 which was a gift from my Dad and a Marlin 60. I would never part with the Winchester - except to my son one day, but the Marlin (post Rem.) is pretty much junk. The 77 isn't a great rifle, either, but it has sentimental value. Dad won it in a sales contest in 1960 - the year I was born.

Remington Nylon 66, hands down. Lightweight, accurate, 14 rounds on demand, absolutely dependable in all conditions of weather and environment. Gone but not forgotten, as current prices on the used gun market will absolutely verify. You can mistreat it, fail to clean it, and in spite of the fact that it needs no lubrication, it goes bang every time. My first one was abandoned and full of sand - sprayed the grit out with WD-40, and it still serves me perfectly when called upon. Absolutely amazing engineering miracle! Thank you, Wayne Leek!

I'm astounded why anyone would pick a Nylon 22 out of all the
Semis that have been made. I can see it being a favorite due to
sentimental reasons or the survival aspect of one. It was hi tech
at the time with Nylon stock. I have had a lot of them over the
years they were good plinkers and I think a shooter set worlds
record with one. I have never broken one or had any function
trouble with one myself. I have seen quite a few with broken
stocks. These have one thing in common, they broke in cold
weather and they all broke the same place in rear portion of
bolt rails.

A plebeian Winchester Model 190 like the one I had when I was a kid lives around here as does a low-numbered 1st or 2nd year production Ruger 10/22, which is a bit nicer and dressier than current production. Has a rather nice, dense and heavy piece of black walnut for a stock and the barrel band and butt plate aren't made of plastic.

I'd still rather have one of those Winchester Model 63s mentioned earlier.

For Semi-autos, my favorite is my Weatherby MkXXII. It is spectacular looking, and the most accurate semi I have ever had. For all around fun and lying in the back of the trunk and any lousy weather I choose my Ruger 10-22, also very accurate and very rugged/dependable.

My Kidd 10-22 16" ultra light barrel in a Kidd receiver and Kidd bolt with a Kidd Match trigger. ;) Sits in a Hogue stock and it's always very accurate.

I've never owned or shot a .22 semi-automatic rifle other than my 10/22 and 15-22. I bet some of those high end ones are great. Of my two, the 15-22 wins hands down though I feel like I'm dissing my old friend, the 10/22.

Favorite to shoot? A suppressed M&P 15 - 22. No contest for fun and Mall Tactical Navy Seal Pretender. Favorite semi-pistol? 622. :)
