M2.0 Really Challenging Glock?

I've been off and on this thread and I see it's still going. Maybe this is not relevant but I like them both and have owned both. I sold my Glocks because I just don't like the grip angle as much nor the trigger thingy.

I will say I regret selling my long slide Glock 45. That was a sweet shooting gun..

If the 4473's are supposed to be kept by the individual FFL and not sent it to the ATF to form a nationwide data base, then how does the ATF know how many Glocks, Rugers and S&W's are sold???????
QUICK-TIN FOIL HAT TIME

My suggestion is do the research, you might be surprised to see the exact numbers I've posted. that's if you know how to do the research. come up with the facts not accusations huh

No company is going to unseat Glock's worldwide position of dominance by imitating them. Only when they bring something new to the table will things change. Glocks are proven around the globe and have established an unmatched track record of simplicity, durability and reliability. Their reputation is well deserved. I'll take an actual Glock 19 over an imitation of it given the choice.
A couple years ago, I commented that if someone would make a G19 with a factory thumb safety, an M&P-style smooth faced trigger, and close to the weight of the G19, it would be my perfect carry pistol. The 9c2 isn't a copy of a G19. It doesn't challenge the G19's position as the pistol of choice for law enforcement and many many others. It does address what are drawbacks to the G19 for me and probably a lot of other people. I have a G19. It's just about my least favorite handgun to shoot, but I grimace and bear it for necessary practice. I just now need to find a reason to buy the 9c2...a reason that my wife will find reasonable. :-)

Least favorite in what way? I shot a lot of different 9s and they all shot about the same.

The biggest reason, I think, is the "middle finger" on the trigger (Glock calls that a safety), which is sharp edged, it seems, and after 3 or 4 mags, gets almost painful. By comparison, I can shoot my Sig P227 (.45acp) all day; same for my Colt XSE. The G19 is my only 9mm right now, except for the Shield, and that little gun is not a fair comparison. I had an FN FNP-9, which was also more enjoyable to shoot than the G19, but too large for a concealed carry pistol. The G19 has that magic combination of compact size and a 15 round mag and its associated full 3-finger grip. Indeed, until now it was just about the ONLY gun in its class. Now the 9c2 has joined it, and there are two guns in that class, with the S&W having two features that make it better for me anyway: The M&P trigger and a thumb safety.

Maybe the M&P really is challenging the Glock. I mean, the best argument the Glock fans can come up with is that Glock parts are move available. Hmmmm, I'll take the gun that doesn't need parts every day.

I've got over 4,000 rounds through my M&Ps and not a single part has needed to be replaced. I do have a couple RSAs laying around for the eventuality.

I don't know who is challenging who, but the spare parts argument is goofy. I don't think I've got any spare parts laying around for any of my firearms, except for a couple Glock slide stop levers that I replaced with the FBI stop.

I shoot as much as anybody here, and I worry about spare parts about as much as I worry about the gross national product of Lithuania. Never needed them. Any issue I ever had with any firearm is always very quickly fixed by me and FedEx or by my LGS gunsmith . . .

What everyday parts? If you don't need parts everyday then just buy the RSA when it goes bad

Nothing Smith & Wesson does will cause Glock to even bat an eye.

Actually that is not true Smith bothered Glock enough to file a lawsuit. Unlike many manufacturers that license toy guns with their name Glock even files lawsuits against toy companies. It seems Gaston has a wedgie the size of the Grand Canyon when it comes to other gun, and toy companies.

If someone is using your name to make a profit without your consent would you be ok with that? I think Apple would sue me if I made a computer and called it apple or if I copied their iPhone

The Smith MP series are not as robust and trouble free as the Glock. Even though MP are cheaper to buy most L.E prefer the Glock.

In the cases I mentioned the companies did not use the Glock name, only made guns similar to Glock. In the long run it IS going to bite Glock in the rear end. I had a red ryder growing up, I have two lever actions today. The youth, under 21, in the airsoft commuinity are growing up with M&P licensed guns. They are most likely going to stay with M&P firearms. Depts train with branded training guns, and in some cases airsoft. Again Smith is smart enough to know that grabbing the young is the future of sales.

Coca Cola, and Pepsi have been doing this battle for years in school soft drink wars. Free equipment, paid uniforms, vending machines with no rental fees. What are the two most popular soft drinks today?

How a company conducts itself, and the respect for their customers weighs heavily on some people, myself included. I own two glocks, once owned three. Soon as somebody offers me the right price for the two I still have they will be gone like a freight train.

Smith and Wesson Continues Supports SASP

Where is Glock's youth shooting programs? They do not even bother to make a gun conducive to bringing the young into the shooting sports.

They don't seem like they need to or want to have a youth program and that's fine. Neither does HK and I'll take HK or Sig...that I know of. Yet people still buy. Very few people own just one gun anyway so chances are those kids have already shot or at some point will at least shoot a Glock. If they switch it's because they saw some benefit whatever it may have been. I grew up shooting 22 in my teenage years yet I have no interest in anything 22. I own one rifle that never comes out of the safe and until just now I forgotten I ever owned it. I probably have 500 rounds that I bought back in 1998!

Aside from that I don't care who they sue. I only want a quality and reliable object, I don't care what the owners of the name or brand thought. If I didn't I wouldn't own anything German. And apparently SW design was close enough to be considered copying.

Over years different gun makers owned the market. Ones that got to comfortable got left in the dust, until they rebooted. Who knows what the next fanboy gun will be, Smith is working on it.

I'd just as soon buy an S&W if I felt they offered me a better product over Glock, but I don't think they currently do. In terms of grabbing the attention of kids, with Glocks presence in movies, TV, video games and rap music, I think S&W has an uphill battle in that area.

I haven't heard of anything challenging anything. Every time a new gun comes out it's the next Glock killer. M&P 1.0, Sig 320, Walther PPQ, CZ P10C, HK VP9... All have were supposedly the next Glock killer. Hasn't happened yet and probably won't in a long long time. Does this mean you should buy Glock? No! Buy whatever makes you happy and stop the silly "competition".

If not for "silly competition" we would all own the same guns, cars, trucks, etc.
Nothing wrong with it. IMO

For some reason people ARE buying plastic guns not made by Glock, and their sales are doing well enough that the companies continue to make them. I call that a challenge.

This title should read
Is Glock really challenging the m&p
Fact is the M&P
Has better sights
Has better grip angle
Has better stippling
Has a Stronger frame
Has a better trigger
And the M&P IS MORE accurate.
That's just off the top of my head .
All I can figure is the glock boys get angry realizing they overpaid for their tupperware/glocks. Don't be mad just upgrade to an M&P 2.0 . A far superior firearm.
