Bud's Gun Shop

They banned me for a few years, cause I raised a stink about their 'insurance' charges.

Items I purchased were fine and promptly delivered.

Haven't been tempted to buy from them for years, as I have found better prices. If they had the best price, I'd buy from them again.

They have my local dealers license on file, so its "one click" and done. They might be a few dollars higher than many smaller internet shops, but its worth that to me to avoid the hassle of sending the FFL licence. They also attempt to price match. That will usually get you a $10-$20 lower price.

I have always had a good experience with Buds. I will continue to buy from them.

They do match other prices sometimes.
Sometimes they'll lower their price, even if it doesn't match the competitor.
Plus free shipping.
Sometimes they're better, sometimes as good, and sometimes not as good as the competition.
Just like anywhere else, I guess.

I've ordered a few guns from Buds with no problems.

I wouldn't buy a gun from Cabelas no matter how much I wanted it. They are so overpriced that is not even comical, it's just sad. Then companies like this wonder why these big box are struggling to survive. If I'm going to buy a gun online I usually go to Gunbuyer or Grabagun. Most of the time their prices are pretty good.

From what I've seen its only going to get worse now that its part of Bass Pro Shops

I buy from my local gun shop. they give the best price they can, they are honest, if they don't have what I want they order it and I have it within a week. She does not increase the price or charge a special order fee. If I ordered from Buds on a new gun I wouldn't feel right. she is small and is close to me and has lay away, and has been known to spot me $50 when I was short. She knows I reload and gave me a box of ammo for a gun I didn't have dies for. I may pay a bit more but I think it's important to support the little guy.

Local shops here in the DFW area just can't compete or won't compete with online stores so I buy from Bud's. A little slow in shipping once they process your payment but usually gets to me in 5 business days......and no sales tax makes a difference when you buy a 1000 dollar gun.....save some $82.50 per 1000 dollars spent...free shipping so what more can you ask for other than being able to handle the gun in person. But hey I do that at the local gun shows or gun stores. I do offer the local shops the chance to match buds price to include tax but have never had any takers.
grabagun is in the DFW area......

grabagun is in the DFW area......

Yes, they offer some good prices but that sale tax of 8.25% is such a turn off for us locals. For out of state buyers it makes great sense. I have bought from them when I wanted something badly and quick.

I have been using Bud's for about 7 years or so. Never a problem. I do dislike it when I give him my bank account number for a "cash" payment and it takes a week to "clear"....other that that nit I'm happy

A couple weeks ago I went through the nightmare of trying to buy two Kimber Micro 9 package deals from Cabelas. Package included the two pistols, two DeSantis Mini Scabbard holsters and four extra magazines. This package was in a flyer I got on Saturday and I went to our local Cabelas on Sunday.
No one at Cabelas knew about this special and after I showed it to them I was told to go home and order it on line. Not what I wanted but I did it, total cost with state tax, $1393.00.
The next day I got a notice from Cabelas that the guns were back ordered and I could not get them until around the first of March. I called and canceled my order with Cabelas.
I called Buds Gun Shop. They had everything but the extra magazines. The sales person found the magazines at Midway USA, got the price with shipping, upgraded the holsters to DeSantis Thumb Breaks and with sales tax the price for everything came to just under $1200.00.
The pistol got to my FFL in 6 work days.
Buds did everything they could to get me what I wanted and way under Cabelas price.

Must have been post Bass Pro takeover. Cabela's will never be the same.

I had an unpleasant experience with Bud's on Gunbroker.

They offered a low price for a magazine, so I bought it and had it shipped to the house, as I usually do. I came home a week later to find an "Adult Signature Required" sticker on the door. I didn't request an adult signature requirement, and Bud's never told me about it (or I would have had it shipped to the office - I work for a living, like many people, and am not around home during the day). I missed the next delivery attempt. My work schedule at the time did not allow me to drive to UPS or FedEx to get the thing from them (this is why I ordered online for delivery instead of merely driving to Sportsman's Warehouse to pick up a mag).

I called Bud's and explained they had not mentioned the adult signature requirement or I would have had the magazine delivered to the office, so I felt they should pay to re-ship the magazine when it was returned to them. Their customer service rep was kind of an astonishing jerk, so I told him, "Fine, I'll contest the charge since you didn't deliver it." I did, wrote them bad GB feedback, and they wrote me bad GB feedback (the only I've ever received).

Bud's will not receive my business again, even though they often advertise low prices.

"We wait until the payment clears" is the excuse. On a credit card??

One must remember that many credit cards are not really credit cards but bank cards that draw directly from your bank account. If your bank account does not have enough money the charge can be refused. I am also not sure that merchant to bank transactions are treated the same as bank to bank transfers so that might cause a delay as well.

If waiting a week to get your transaction cleared bugs you, order it a week earlier and then you will get it when you wanted it.

Anyone bought from Bud's? Did you have any problems?

Contacted CS today to see why it was taking so long to get a Mag shipped. It has been in shipping since the 16th. Got more run around and BS from them than I can remember from anybody in a long time. Not on my Christmas card list right now.

Perhaps because I am older I am a little more patient than others.
There is one thing that I have learned through my years on the planet, when you buy something and want it now, it may be the only transaction you have going on. The seller on the other hand may be dealing with hundreds of sales and unfortunately yours isn't the most important at any given time. Sellers take days off, have employees take days off, have personal issues crop up, experience mail delays etc. etc. Sometimes they just make mistakes and delays happen.

I can understand getting upset if your item is delayed a couple of weeks or more but a week to me isn't really that earth shattering. Take a breath and relax, you'll live longer....;)

Some body in CS needs to go back to flipping burgers. Yesterday they said my order had not shipped. Today it arrived and 2 hours later I got a shipping notice and tracking number. Where do they find these people?
