I'm Thinkin' of Changing My Signature Line

I declined. Took me most of a year to relearn how to walk using the muscles that still worked.

Good on ya, Snubby!

I had similar deal when I tore a rotator. Ortho surgeon told me I needed surgery. I told him I was going to first see how far I could get rehabbing it on my own.

I'll never forget his words, "You'll be back." Never went back. Took 18 months, but I did it.

Just as I've observed of several others here, I've changed my sign-off a number of times. I believe I've finally come up with one I'll stick with for quite a long time.

I've always liked your chooglin signature 'cause it evokes so many memories of my high school days and the rest of my life. I didn't like school except for the social aspect. Mechanical drawing and band were the only two classes I passed in my last semester -- just enough enough to get my diploma. "Keep on Chooglin" had been my theme song, then, and it sort of stuck with me through my 28-year career in the 'Force. I still smile when it comes on the radio and when I see it at the end of your posts.

Which ever signature you use, you'll still be one of my heroes.

Hey Snubby,

As we are getting older, things like our "handles" are part of the legacy that we will create. That's one reason I went from Life to Life Benefactor with the NRA. I have four grandchildren and there are certain things that I want them to remember their POPS by.

Your current handle is great. Your Native American heritage is very interesting. Whatever you choose, I'll be looking forward to reading your posts.

Since a debilitating injury several years ago, I've kept on chooglin through some pain and shuffling and flopping. Living with new words like radiculopathy, stenosis, sciatica, etc, has been really special. Day by day and bit by bit the parts seem to be working better and better. Pain is either dissipating, or I'm just getting used to it.

It is impossible to tell from day to day or week to week, but looking back a few years, walking is easier, chores are no longer chores but are blessings.

I swear that if it wasn't for my 80-pound yellow lab needing two daily walks I would be crippled and bed-ridden by now.

I should have named the dog "Chooglin".

Snubby:

Nah!... stick with your current tag. You'd get tired of explanations.

I can really sympathize with the neuropathy, as I am battling a dose myself, due to a motorcycle crash back in '75. Spinal stenosis, damaged discs... the works, along with a host of other problems because of going full-blast my entire life, along with a hereditary AAA problem that was taken care of 2 years ago. Everything from my hips down turn to lead when trying to walk normally... a lot of rests when going out in the woods. I had to retire a year earlier than I wanted to because I was just getting run down so easily. A few trips to the docs revealed why, and they pretty much saved my life. Now, I want to get my money's worth with this retirement gig. It's an ongoing thing with trips to the quacks.

Side note: CCR is also one of my faves. About 15 years ago one of the sorta local FM stations was running a quick jumble of 10 Creedence song clips while I was listening at work (building hi-po car engines). One of the songs was "Keep On Chooglin', which also happens to be one of my favorite CCR tunes. I scribbled down the titles and stuffed the note in my pocket. When I got home I hopped online (call-in or online submission) and sent off the answers.

A quick reply told me I had won the 6 CD set, which covered CCR and The Golliwogs (pre-CCR)! Hell, not to miss out on grabbing the prize, I took the next day off from work and drove 60 miles on a rainy November day to the radio station to retrieve my present. I spoke with the receptionist, told her who I was and why I was there, and she went into the studio to retrieve one of the DJ's. He came out to the front desk with a smile on his face, and the boxed set in his hands, and told me that I was the only one who had named all 10 songs correctly in order, and that they'd had to lower the number of qualifying guesses in able to give the rest away. He seemed to be fairly impressed, which pretty much surprised me.

In any case, you just "Keep on Chooglin", brother. :D
Yup, Like Ozzie said, "All my life I've been over the top, I don't know what I'm doing all I know is I don't wanna stop." I've got the scars and tattoos to show for it too and arthritis in both of my knees.

After the state of West Virginia officially declared me as an unemployable useless cripple, I had to retire early and my wife quit her job to help me. We still had a mortgage and two car notes. Things were kinda tight for a while.

Tambourines and elephants are playing in the band.

Hey snubby, I've been there, course it was 45 years ago and I was up for three days.

Saw Fogerty back around 1998. He just started playing his old stuff again. Played for 2 1/2 hours. I was totally blown away. This is how he opened. Same gold top Les Paul.

I vote for, Never Say Die.

Never understood the Chooglin' reference, as I'd never heard the song.
You can keep the chooglin' signature, whichever name you choose.

As for the sovereign state of West Va....unless they offered you a nice benefit for being impaired, who cares what they think?

BTW, the governor of Texas, the greatest state of all, is in a wheelchair. I think he's still the best governor in the nation, and he followed Rick Perry into office. Rick was pretty darned good, but Greg Abbott is at least on par.
