...my head, that is, not a gun. A couple of weeks ago I reported getting a summer cold and all that can happen with that here in the desert. http://smith-wessonforum.com/lounge/565096-excessive-heat-week-so-i-caught-cold.html Fast forward to the last week or so and we have been plagued with smoke from the fires in CA. The smoke here has been enough to drive my sinuses nuts. I was becoming concerned that I had never really cleared that cold.

Last night my wife and I ate some frozen carnitas tacos from Costco. Turns out they are pretty darned spicy. Halfway through the second one I got a sensation of something creeping up my Eustachian tubes to the point that the inside of my right ear tickled. No joke, these tacos had opened up places that haven't seen daylight since my last good Indian meal in London. These tacos reach places that the makers of Sudafed and Mucinex can only dream about.

I excused myself and went to the other room armed with tissues. What followed evacuated my sinus cavities from the roots of my hair down to my knees. My cheeks are now positively cadaverous. Obviously the noise made it to the next room, because on my return my wife gave me a laconic, "Better now?" as I sat down.:D

Yes, it was better...just in time for the smoke to REALLY clamp down today accompanied by dew points in the high 50s giving 20% humidity. Visibility is reported as 8 miles at McCarran, but it will be a lot less if I sneeze outside what came out last night.:p

The folks in CA with allergies and breathing issues have my sincere sympathies right now. How those closer to the fires cope I do not know, but I reckon I would be off work or be wearing the Japanese metro mask 24/7.
