Anyone here running USPSA with a stock revolver?

I am thinking of hanging the stock Glock 17 up and trying my hand at my 6" 586.

Just want to talk holsters. What works what doesn't. I'm thinking just picking up a used a jordan style basketweave. Not really into kydex for my wheels. This is really just another tool I use to help me improve my shooting skills and it's fun. I think running a wheel gun will make it much more fun especially seeing that's all I carry anymore these days. Plus it can't hurt my speedloadeer skills any

I already have comp 3 re loaders.will be a challenge with the 32 round count so I'll have to buy a few more and some more holders and such.

USPSA and IDPA are "games" but IMHO nothing wrong with shooting either with your carry gear.

When a local club was doing Sunday matches (1990s) a few of us shot both with our edc gear...... even shot an IDPA course or two with my "suit gun" (pre 3913) a .380 PPK

I know they are games. But they improve reloading skills and trigger control, and aiming which translate directly to real life.

IDPA is not available in my area.

I also don't EDC a 6" L frame but I do a 4" K frame. I don't even have a holster for the L frame and I am not running a 6" appendix carry which is my preference. 4" is the limit for me

Totally agree.....I just got more out of if using my edc....... but I see where a 6" l-frame could be an issue.

I would get the Jet speedloaders or Safariland Comp III. I use both, the Jet ones seem to have less problems over a long period of time.

I shoot my 6” 686-4 AFS in our Service Match, 90 shot PPC type course at 50, 25, 10 and 7 yards.

I use a Gilmore Speed Leader holster and Comp II speedloaders. I have Comp III’s for my Victory revolver and don’t really like them the same as the Comp II’s, which are the same as I used to carry when my duty gun was a Model 10-8.

The holster is definately not edc and the speedloaders sit in spring steel holders not a pouch.

You may find for USPSA that the 6 rounds will feel inadequate compared to the 8 round 9mm’s but their is no doubt they are fun.

Use your 6-rounder and have fun. You are not going to beat the automatics so just make it a learning experience and learn to reload as fast as you can.

I never worried about round count because I new I could reload faster than a lot of autoloaders. My times with Safariland Comp IIIs ran under 2 seconds. I was a master class shooter.

As far as holsters go. As long as your trigger guard is covered it's good to go.

It's tough to beat the 8 shooters now. Even shooting Major, there is just too many advantage to those extra rounds and the point difference makes shooting A's more important that speed.
