Recommendation For A 3rd Gen .45 Please

Out of rank curiousity, is the left side only safety as it left the factory?

Unfortunately, I'm not the original owner. But, far as I know, the gun hasn't been modified. "The Catalog" shows the MkII as having ambidextrous safeties which isn't mentioned for the first version. Every photo, save one, I've seen of the Shorty 45 shows the lever only on the left.

I was fortunate enough to secure this gun from a gentleman with a stunning collection. This was probably the least interesting and valuable piece he pulled out of the safe during my visit.

personally still my "grail" gun.....opportunity presented itself a few years back just after I bought a P245.........the P245 is long gone but but not the desire for a "Shorty"

I went from a 4516 to a Sig 245 for my .45 carry needs in the mid-90s as the 4516 while a great gun it was just too heavy for EDC. Still have the Sig.... though I rarely carry a .45 these days.

Why did you dump the sig and what replaced it?

The P245 was the first and only Sig that didn't feel right in my hand..For lack of a better term it felt "top heavy" and awkward. My P220 on the other hand felt similar to my 4506 except lighter. I tried 3 different grips on it and none helped the awkward feel...plus I was experiencing some functionality issues....I may have gave up on it somewhat prematurely but when I was offered $150 more than what I had in it I jumped on it. It was replaced by the first of two HK 45c's that I still have.
