... to solve for me. :) What the heck are these strange collars and why did I find them on these three 6900-series magazines I found?

The gun shop guy said they must be space fillers for using 6900-series magazines in a shorter gripped gun... but there are no shorter gripped 3rd Gens that could use such a thing. Help! Anybody run into these before?

p.s., Yes, I bought the mags anyway. :D

Maybe they are for using 59xx mags in 69xx and someone just got really confused.
Well, I suppose it's worth checking out. :) You never know. :D

Be right back...

++++++++++

I'm back. Sadly, no cigar. Very close, but the back ridge of the mystery thing prevents the 5900-series magazine from seating in a 6900-series gun. :o Still, I think you are on to something. It must be a magazine spacer. It has to be a magazine spacer! The question is... for what? And why were they on these 6900-series magazines?

I would have guessed PGS Grip+2 but something doesn't look quite right about them.

Yeah, but the same idea though I'm betting... but apparently for some other gun.

I'm thinking they are for completely different guns/mags and someone got really extra confused haha.

It would seem that way. :D But this was no customer or kiddie mischief. ;) These were all in individual packages, each with a magazine and a mystery spacer on it. Knowing that shop, they came to the shop that way... and, by God, they were going to sell them that way! :p

So now I have a new purpose in life... a new quest: Finding out what mags & gun these fit and, obviously, adding one to the collection so I can use these little thingies I inadvertantly ended up with. :D

My PC Shorty forty came with a 69 length magazine and an 11 round 4006 length magazine with a spacer. Probably the same idea.
I think that lip on the back of the thingies would do the same thing to a 4006 magazine as it does to the 5906 magazine... but I'll see if it works. I should be able to use my 4013TSW for that test.

There are thingy's like that for 7 round mags used in the Springfield XDs 45. Wide enough to cover the difference between 5 and 7 round mags. Do they have the S&W logo on them?

Sadly, no Logo or markings of any kind. :o That would have been a very helpful clue! :) Time to start Googling magazine spacers I guess and see if I can match them up to some ones on the 'Net. :D

Was there a part number on the package they came in?
Nope. Nothing. This particular shop takes in used and surplus magazines, packages and prices them, and then hangs them up on a display rack. Sometimes they write what they fit and sometimes they don't. In this case, no markings. I just recognized them and scooped them up just as you see them. :)

Best guess from my armchair is, they're spacer for a 5900 series magazine but they didn't include the new floor plate that comes with them.

Kel tec sleeve

Kel Tec makes a sleeve for the 69xx mags to be used in a p-11.
They also make one for the 59xx mags to work in the P-11.
I have some for the 59xx mags and they look very similar in construction (not size) to those.

I think Tom 45 has the correct answer 12 or 15 5900 series spacer for Kel Tec

If you can't find a use for them today, you won't miss them tomorrow.:)
