I was a cereal killer in the 1970’s......

Yeah I remember Sugar Pops before they took the word sugar off the box! Ate a ton of Sugar Smacks and Frosted Flakes. No wonder my dentist got rich off my parents.

Ruthie is a Chexaholic.

Those sugary cereals were just coming on the market when I was a kid, but we rarely ate them. Mostly we had Bran Flakes, Wheaties, Cheerios, and Wheat Chex. I, too, became a Chexaholic and still am.

One hot cereal we ate a lot of in the winter was Malt-O-Meal. Anyone remember that?

Anybody remember.........

Quisp and Quake.

Cocoa Krispies were a treat. And Sugar Smacks.

Back in those days is was sugar, sugar, sugar.. I always wanted to try Calvin's "Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs" from the Calvin and Hobbes strip.

Corn, wheat ad rice Chex were a fave. And Fruit Loops!

Now I eat more bran and raisins.

"The Roman legions conquered the world on a mix of four grains - rice, corn, wheat and oats. Now you can have the same four grains for breakfast. Team Flakes."

It was a very good cereal, so of course they discontinued it. A few years ago I started thinking about it, and wondered where those Roman legions got corn.

I was a big fan of Life. Captain Crunch left a scum on my teeth. Not a fan.

We rarely got the sugar loaded stuff,we had to make do with Cheerios
Mom was mean!!
And she was an RN working for a dentist [emoji16]

Frosted Flakes all time favorite.

Apple Jacks were my favorite till I was about 6.

Frankenberry and BooBerry once in a while

Anyone remember a captain crunch that was peanut butter flavored?

Pretty sure that my folks only bought what was on sale and cheapest. And then to make things worse, Dad decided that instead of having several boxes going stale, he would dump them all into a large Tupperware container. Then, when it got low, they would buy another box and throw it in.

Raisin Bran and Corn flakes were the go to's. I also liked spoon size shredded wheat ans grape nuts. Special K was good also. Want a treat-try special K with half and half-but DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES read the nutritional label of the side of the half and half:eek:

Whatever brand that I could talk my Mom into buying. Wheat Puffs, Corn Flakes, because they were my Dad's favorite, Wheaties, with real men on the box and when the good stuff was gone, I ate Mom's Raisin Brand, yuck!

One of the "real men" on the box is now a woman, not that there's anything wrong with that. Just sayin'. :D

Yeah, I am confessed cereal killer. Often reminisce when walking down the cereal isle.

Cocoa Puffs
Fruity Pebbles
Lucky Charms
Fruit Loops
Franken Berry
Count Chocula
Boo Berry
Capt Crunch with crunch berries
Peanut butter capt crunch
Apple Jacks
Oatmeal
Cream of wheat

Corn Flakes...sometimes with sliced banana, Frosted Flakes, Raisin Brand.

I eat a glass of dry Honey Nut Cheerios every morning now...my morning is around 11.

Last year I mistakenly bought a box of pumpkin spice Cheerios, the box looked the same. One mouthful and threw the box away.

And dont forget the 1970's...

Eat your Wheaties and you can grow up to be just like Bruce Jenner :eek::eek::(:o

Mom used to make Maypo, meh havent had it since.

I dislike milk on cereal, ill just eat it from the box as is.

Nothing but Wheaties, Cheerios, and Corn Flakes in our house during the 50s and 60s. Later on, Mom decided Special K was to be added to the breakfast menu. I remember adding a spoonful of sugar to a bowl of cereal. I still eat Wheaties and Cheerios from time to time. Never for breakfast tho. I haven't added sugar to my cereal since I left home.

First it was Quaker Puffed Rice. "It's shot from guns." I used to hide behind the couch whenever the Quaker shot off his cannon. Now that I think of it, that Quaker and his cannon were an ironic juxtaposition.

Cheerios. Natch.

Chex, all flavors. The boxes were pretty good reading.

Kix. No Trix back then.

Those were the big ones. To a lesser extent, Rice Krispies, Wheaties, Post Toasties. Kellogg's Frosted Flakes and Sugar Corn Pops.

Malt-O-Meal with butter, cream and brown sugar.
