S&W 13-4 3 inch...yea or nay ? UPDATE

Bubba, ya done good! :D

According to the SCSW 4th edition, BUC dates to 1995.
The Stags might look good on it, but I love those old Uncle Mikes Combats for shooting. Yeah, they're rubber. But they fit my hand perfectly and really soak up the recoil of a .357. ;)

Thanks for the 1995 date.
Your right these grips feel good.

One of the most comfortable carry guns S&W ever made. Its a great shooter too.

The gun in question was my agency's last carry revolver before transitioning to semi-autos.

Our guns had our agency seal roll marked on the side plate and was ordered with round butt target (banana) grips.

You will not regret buying it.

Thanks for this information about the FBI load - I never knew this. I would have thought the "regular" duty round would have been either the 158 gr. round - maybe in JHP configuration and maybe +P loading, or the 125 gr. JHP which was the premier man-stopper round back in the days of the revolver when carried by LEOs. I remember seeing a victim that had gotten into a scuffle with a Texas DPS trooper who shot him in the hip (buttocks) using the 125 gr. JHP round from his Model 28 duty revolver. The damage was quite impressive.

Regards,

Dave

IIRC, agents normally carried the .38+P 158 gr LSWC "FBI load" (made by Winchester, Remington or Federal, depending on who go the bid each year). Agents only carried the .357 Magnum Winchester 145 gr Silvertip with permission from the Special Agent in Charge of the office.

I have a set of those grips on my 3" 66. Would love to find a set for my 2.5" 686.

But agents have told me that permission was usually easy to get.
Actually, I think the ASAC could also grant permission or often had the primary responsibility for deciding.

The lead HP .38 load was pretty good. One Dallas officer shot six felons with it over his career and all hits were fatal.

Post target photos when you can.

I'm surprised those grips fit. I like them on my sq. butt M-66-3, but Michael's made a round butt version for your gun.

Congrats on picking up a 3" M13, they are a fine revolver. I was lucky enough to pick up a nickel 3" M13-3 on a GunBroker auction a couple of years ago when nobody else was looking.
