What caliber do you have the most of?

.303 British, mostly Radway Green from the mid-Fifties. Got whole bunch, cheap, maybe twenty years ago. Had good reason.

The nephews turning .303 MkVII ball into noise and hot water!

Back during the 22 shortage a few years ago, I went on a quest to make sure I had plenty of the most useful ammo I could think of, but overshot the mark and probably have more RF than I'll live to shoot... my nieces and nephews will probably enjoy it though.

Since I reload for most CF rounds I shoot, I generally don't keep a standing supply of most of these, but since I got factory 9mm and 30-06 at very favorable rates, I do keep goodly supplies of these.

The only shotgun I currently load for is 20 gauge, so I try to keep a modest supply of 12 ga and 410 bore on hand, but since I'm not that much of a shotgunner, a couple of hundred rounds of any of these is plenty.

20K - 22LR
14+K - 308
10+K - 9mm
9+K - 5.56
Approx. 8K - 30-06, 7.62x39
Approx 5K - 6.8 SPC, 45 acp, 40 S&W
Approx. 4K - 5.7x28

For the past 30-40 yrs, I have made it a practice to buy ammo by the case when prices have gone down, like right now. Has really paid off during those periods of short ammo availability and skyrocketing prices.

Tons of 9mm......

I shoot the most of 9mm every time I go out. Pistols and carbine.

Keep ammo for my SKS and Mosin

.22 ammo for my Henry.

.38 ammo for my mod 36 and 38 and some .357 for my 686.

Keeps some 30-06 around but haven't been shooting that is much.

I shoot a lot of reduced loads in rifles. I've made some .223 for a friend.

I have more 22 LR ammo on hand simply because it's cheap, but I usually end up shooting more 9 mm when we go to the range.

Other than 22LR probably 7.62x54R. When I start thinking I know how much ammo I have of a given caliber I typically start looking for sales to restock. When I reload pistol ammo it's usually in batches of 500 or 1000. I dislike changing dies on my Dillon 450 that much.

.22 LR
.45 ACP
12 ga.
16 ga. (probably close to a tie on the shotshells)
.280 Remington (only because after loading up a bunch I kept stumbling on loaded ammo at less than virgin brass prices)

22lr. Still shooting ammo I bought in the 80s. Had plenty during the "Obama" shortage. When that ended I took advantage of sales and close outs as the suppliers sold off all of the back orders at decent prices.

Followed by M2 ball (30-06) most bought back in the late 90s and early 2000s, when I thought I was going to shoot my Garands and 03s a couple hundred rounds a month - forever!

I have always tried to keep as many rounds of factory ammo as I could afford. That number went up as I became more affluent. I have come to the point where I don't buy much ammo except for the addition of new calibers when a new unit is added to the herd. If I live to be twice my age now, I will never shoot all the ammo I have on hand. At some point in the future, someone will go down into the mancave, look around and say: "What in the Hell was he thinking!"

12 gauge 7.5 shot 2-3/4 @ 1250 fps. Always at minimum 3 cases on hand for trap shooting.
