Question for S&W 327 PC Owners

Just checked mine with a Timney mechanical gauge. Double action came in at a little under 12lbs. while single action was a consistent 4 lbs.

I am quite anxious to get my own Lymans Digital scale to confirm the results achieved at my LGS. Just received notice the my credit card was charged so hopefully it will ship in the next few days. I've been wanting one of these for a long time. More to come.

So I just got notification from FedEx that my Lymans Digital scale will be delivered this Friday the 12th. I anxious to see if the results I get will match those on the Lymans scale at my LGS. If they are I am good to go. If they exceed 10 pounds I am going to let my gunsmith do his magic. He has been working on my handguns for over 30 years and does an outstanding job on revolvers especially Smith and Wesson.

So my Lymans Digital scale arrived today and the 5 pull average for double action on my S&W 327 is a smooth 8.133 which approximates the weight tested at my local LGS. As a result, I will not be having any trigger work done by my gunsmith. My 327 is one of my carry guns so I prefer to leave everything stock if I can and with a double action trigger weight of just over 8 pounds no further action is required. It would appear that Smith and Wesson Performance Center did an excellent job of building this 327. Needless to say, I am a very happy Smith and Wesson customer.
BTW I really like the Lymans scale.

Forgot to mention earlier that the single action trigger pull measured 3.16 pounds on the Lyman scale.

My parts should arrive on the 11th. I will install them that afternoon/night hopefully.

Got my wc kit in today. Disassembled the revolver. Cleaned and lubed. Replaced the trigger return spring and tension bar. I was tinkering with the trigger bar tension screw. As you probably already know by adj it you can adj the trigger pull. Right now I'm getting about 8.5lbs DA and 3lbs single. I need to take it to the range this weekend to test the adj with the ammo I shoot. Once I get it dialed in,I can file the end of the screw to keep it fully seated. I will probably polish the internals when I'm done. I just wanted to make one change at a time and see how it goes.

I am extremely surprised that I am getting approximately the same results with my 327 out of the box as you are with the wc kit. I have less than 100 rounds fired at this point but have dry fired the snot out of it. Guess the Performance Center did a really good build on mine.

It may also be due to the tension on the trigger bar. How far do you have it screwed in? It makes a big difference in the DA pull. I can easily got between 11lbs and 6lbs by adj it. I will have to test for reliability with various ammo before I can give you an accurate and final pull weight.

I haven't removed the gips so I would imagine its at the factory setting which I would assume is all the way in. Anyway how ever it's set, I am not messing with it because I'm very happy with the trigger action at this point.

Be sure to keep us updated on your results.

Going to the range tomorrow to shoot my 327. Really looking forward to it. Since my wife is coming with me I'll also bring my Sig P320 X-Compact which she loves to shoot. It's probably the best striker fired pistol I have ever owned. Should be a fun outing.

Went to the range saturday. Shot 50 rounds of hornady american, 20 rounds of hornady critical defense, 50 rounds of remington green and white box, 50 rounds from freedom munitions, 20 rounds of federal american eagle. All .357 mag. No misfires. I will probably leave it as is for awhile. Now I'm looking for some new stocks to replace the badger ones that are on it.

Thanks for sharing. Did you get your 327 with the Badger grips on it? I really like the stock grips that came with mine although I am looking at other grips that might be a little smaller and better for concealed carry. Be sure to let me know what you decide on.

I have the original grips. The previous owner of the revolver added the badger grips. I like the feel and look of the original grips. The badger grips definately conceal better. For some reason if I shoot a lot of rounds with them on it runs the skin off of my dominant hand on my thumb. Maybe I can contour the grips of I don't find something I like

Trigger bars are found in semi-automatic firearms. I assume that you are talking about the strain screw. Not something to fool with if we are talking about a gun for S/D. Play with it all you want on your range toy or game gun, but if your life may depend on it, that puppy should be dogged down tight. (See what I did there?)

Adios,

Pizza Bob

Correct. IDK what I was thinking on the name. Probably because I have been working on some of my cz pistols lately. Thanks.

Have you checked out Lyman's American Legend gips for the 327. They look pretty nice and are not real expensive plus with the rubber finger groves they will mitigate felt recoil.

Not trying to hijack but this thread has the perfect audience. I just picked up a new 327 yesterday and it has a very loud rattle to it when shaken. My TRR8 does not have this. I removed the grips but nothing making noise in there. Has any other 327 owners experienced this?

I was just browsing their catalog actually when you wrote this. I was trying to decide between wood and rubber grips. I like the wood aesthetics. I was considering rubber for the tackiness. The recoil doesn't bother me. These may be a perfect compromise. Thanks!

Please let me know if you pick up a set and how you like them.

Mine definitely does not do that. Does it still rattle when the grips are off? You might want to give Smith and Wesson Customer Service a call and ask them what the rattle might be.
