I would say cold beer is my first choice but what's your choice?

I just made a huge batch of salsa...

Roma tomatoes 'cause I like a thicker salsa
White onions coarsely chopped
Cilantro w/stems finely minced
Whole head of garlic....half thinly sliced and rest minced
Jalapenos w/seeds... It ain't salsa without heat.
Lime juice...fresh,of course
Tomato sauce...Not a lot. Just enough to add color and sweetness.

It turned out really good but maybe a little too much heat.
I found that a side plate of sliced cheddar cheese helps me to keep eating the salsa.

When I come in around noon or a little after, hot, sweaty, and tired, I grab my 24-ounce mug out of the cupboard and pour in about 8 ounces of Gatorade fruit punch, then another 8 ounces of orange juice, and then fill the rest of the mug up with ginger ale. Great stuff.

About the only thing that I'll add to that great thirst-quenching beverage is a large Italian sub sandwich with Italian dressing. To me, that combination is hard to beat.

After that, I kick off my boots, whistle to Suzy my border collie, and the both of us head upstairs for our afternoon siesta. Ah-h-h, life is good.:D

Pasta salad, rotoni, artichoke hearts, salami, ham or deli turkey, perhaps all three. Mix in Italian dressing, chopped carrots, celery and diced mozzarella cheese. Add a cold watermelon to that and life is good.
Of course hot is any day the mercury reaches 80F.

Cold pasta salad.
Watermelon
Ambassador skin-on wieners with Pickapeppa, a slice of pickle a slice of Vidalia onion.
Arnold Palmer. After 5:00, gin and tonic, Booth's* and Schweppe's with a splash of bitters and wedge of lime.

*cheap enough to mix but still makes a tolerable martini in a pinch.

For a midday bite before heading back out in the heat my long gone Italian MIL introduced me to green pepper and sweet onion (raw) with cream cheese sandwiches.
Crusty Italian bread is best but it's great on anything.
