Your first car

First was an '83 Chevy c30, 4 on the floor with a pretty heavily modded 350.... 2nd was a '96 camaro with a motor out of an '02 my uncle and I built a street/strip car out of.... had a lot of fun in both, camaro got me in some trouble when it wasn't broken....

My first car with my name on it was a '74 Roadrunner, one of the very last ones made before the hideous '75's appeared. On the truck was my car and an identically painted and optioned '75, which I wanted no part of. I ordered the car in May, before I turned 18, and my mother had to put the deposit down on it. I wanted a Challenger or a 'Cuda, but she did her usual procrastinating and any decent ones were gone, so I ended up with the 'Runner. Identical to this one, except mine had "360" on the hood. After mods, including a rear end change when the original one broke when I put slicks on it at the strip, it ran a best of 13.35@ 106 MPH. After a lot of early issues, it was a rock solid car that survives today with a monster stroker motor and close to 700 HP. I want to get to Vegas just to drive it again!

I paid cash for it, thanks to an uncle who started a savings account for me at birth, and bought me more than a few Savings Bonds. I had enough money to buy the #2 vehicle, which wasn't a pleasant ownership experience at all. A lemon should be yellow, right?

Oh the memories...first car given to me was a 1953 chevy, lot car, drove it around the yard as long as I could go with a gallon of gas, my age about 13...my first legal on the road vehicle was a 1957 Four Courier. It was service truck for the company I worked for, had over 100,000 on the clock. Cost me 20 dollars. It was basically a ford station wagon with a flat deck behind the front bench seat. right behind the seat were 2 panels that lifted up, built in beer coolers. It had a straight 6 and 3 on the tree which was quickly converted to a fake hurst floor shifter. What a fun drive it was for the 2 years I had it.
Funny moment, got pulled over by the local cops one night, they said my rear end looked overloaded...opened the back door and 23 friends were pulled out. Cops made them all walk home...yeah memories.

My first car was a 1962 Corvair Spyder convertible, black with white top and red interior. I think it was Chevys first turbo model, 150 hp and a 4 speed.

My first car was made in your Country of origin Rusty.:D

Not a picture of mine. But mine was exactly like this one.

Wow, this thread brings back memories!!!
Mine was a red 68 Torino. Bought it from a Ford dealership mechanic. It had an add on AC unit, which was a box like unit under the center of the dash, and occasionally dropped cold water on the passengers foot. Had reverb unit also which was quite the deal in sound for 68. Had a 302 V8 I believe. That AC unit was really cool! Never desired a convertible, and haven't owned a vehicle without AC!

Not my car.

1950 Chevy 2dr. Drove it across pastures on two track roads to another ranch to meet the school bus. Had it two years and never touched a dirt or paved road.

When I got old enough to get my driver's license my Dad got me a 1953 Chev Bel Air with a slip and slide automatic transmission. I drove that one 40 miles to high school for 3 years.

Hey Ditrina

Was the Volvo picture actually your car or is it a stock photo?

I ask because of the License Plate "AOC 0207" is very close to one I had "AOC 1973". I can't remember which car it was on, but it was in the western Washington area. (Seattle)

First car bought with my own money was a 1957 MGA 1500 roadster. My brother has a 1960 bugeye Sprite. The kids in my neighborhood all drove British sports cars: TriumphTR3, TR4, Spitfire, Minis, Sunbeam Alpine.

Marsh—I bet you and your friends got plenty of exercise:

—Lucas holds the patent for the short circuit.
—Lucas – Inventor of the intermittent wiper.
—Lucas – Inventor of the self-dimming headlamp.
—The three position Lucas switch – Dim, Flicker and Off
—The Original Anti-Theft Device – Lucas Electrics.
—Lucas—Loose Unsoldered Connections and Splices

A 1973 red, 350 Nova SS hatchback. It had white side stripes, black vinyl interior and of course, Cherry Bomb mufflers. I got it in 1978. At the time I had a 1974 blue, Honda CB400 SS motorcycle. I told my mother I wanted to ride it to and at college 300 miles away. She "strongly" suggested a car instead...hence the Nova. I wish I still had them both.

I have read this about Lucas, the Prince of Darkness for years.
But I've owned 2 Sprites and a Midget and have never had any issue. Must be lucky.

Mine was a 1956 Chevrolet 210 4-door sedan, silver and white two-tone, with the classic small block 265 ci V-8, Powerglide, and dual exhausts. I acquired it when I started college in 1961. It had been the first new car Dad had ever bought and was well-cared for, so it was in great shape when I got it. I had talked Dad into adding dual exhausts right after he bought it by claiming they would increase fuel economy. ;) I don't know if they did, but our ordinary family sedan sounded way cool the whole time we owned it, especially after the original factory mufflers wore out and were replaced by glass-packs. (Remember those?)

1974 Chevy Nova w/ the 350 V-8. Great car! Drove it through college and seminary. It got killed one afternoon by a logging truck that ran through the only red light in Wheeler County. EMT said the first thing I said when I woke up was, "He broke my car!" Sad. That Nova was only 10 years old ... and it only had 100K on the odometer. Saw one like it about 7 years ago for sale ... $10K. White. Blue racing stripes. SS model. Should have bought it. Oh well. Sincerely. bruce.

First one with my name on the title was a 57 Chevy. Did the floating grille, the nose and deck job myself. Notice the SunTach up on the dash...265 transplant, 3 on the tree replaced by a Herst floor kit. In those days ran F Gas at Niagara...did OK and had loads of fun. Had to let it go when Uncle Sam needed my advice for the US Army.

Got home in time to find a 68 Olds Tornado unsold, small town dealer crying the blues cause no one wanted the thing. Paid cash & drove out with (if I recall correctly) 455 cu.in., 425 HP, front wheel chain drive. Took my brand new bride on a cruise down thru Gettysburg PA to Washington DC and down into Virginia. Remember some small burg in VA and I guess I jumped off the light with too much pedal...anyway..those big 15" G (bias belt) radials hadn't come totally into being then, and you should have seen the smoke and the stares...coming from the front tires!

Fine machines....would take either one of them today over any modern stuff.

Piece of junk 64 1/2 Mustang with a 260. My second was a 70 Challenger with 383 magnum. Had it for 5 years and should have kept that one!
