Hi, Most recent answer I could find by search was from 2017. If you or somebody you know has purchased a suppressor in 2019 or 2020 could you please tell me how long the wait time was after supplying all the paperwork to Uncle Sam until you got the OK?
Thanks

Silencershop website has a page for the various filing types. It looks like 180 to 250 days is common.

I'm interested in getting another, but don't feel like paying today for something I can't have for 8 months. I'm glad I have 1 to mess around with.

It took me 8 1/2 months in 2019. I know that's not much help for current wait time but that was also the wait time the year before. I hope someone has a more current time frame answer. My 1st was for my .22....I would like to buy one for my 9mm but no way I'm spending $$ for one 7 days before the election. I have even asked my LGS what would happen if there was a ban come 2/1/21? Would you get a refund on suppressor? On stamp? Sorry for getting off topic.

A friend would of had his right at 6 months, but the Covid shut down added 3 months to that!

In 1983 is was 7 1/2 months for my MAC 10 and suppressor.

I bought one in Jan of 2019, start to finish it was two days short of a full year before the tax stamp came in.

A friend at work just picked up a can two weeks ago that he put the paper work in for about 6 months ago. That was right at the beginning of covid. He said his last one two years ago took about nine months.

Weren't they supposed to pass something in congress under some hearing protection/public health act that would allow these to be sold with out a stamp??? ANd BTW how much is the stamp??? And where do you get one from??

$200 for the ATF issued stamp + the price of the suppressor + cost to engrave the suppressor.

You don't need to get the suppressor engraved. The manufacturer's info and serial number will be engraved on the silencer; your name, city and State is not a Federal requirement. The $200 tax stamp is.

Back to the OP's question, the last one this year took 11 months for approval.

I bought my suppressor on June 20, 2018 and sent in the paperwork that day. I received the tax stamp on June 20, 2019. One year to the day.

Whoa. People are crossing the streams here.

ATF approvals of a Form 1, build your own suppressors or a firearm/short barrel rifle, is about a month. They do need to be properly engraved per ATF regs. I had my local gun shop engrave professionally for $120 with an industrial laser this month.

Purchasing a pre-manufactured suppressor has a longer ATF approval time. They are pre engraved.

Please correct me if I misstated, but Think these issues need clarity. ATF's EForms Has terrible technology, but still works okay and is a great opportunity to complete easily.

You are correct. If you build your own, you will need to have it engraved with your information per BATF regs. If you buy one from one of the many manufacturerers you will not need to have your personal info engraved on it.

So if you build your own-fill out a Form one and then keep it as a demo model
do you need to have anything further to do with the ATF tax stampe or whatever???
What about buying an 80% kit????
My mind is a cogitating here.....
