Your favorite breed of dog?

Dudley Labs and Mini Aussies for us

Through the years I have had 7 dogs. As I look back, it seems that the
Heinz 57 variety dogs were the best. The longer the pedigree, the higher
strung they seem to be. If I needed a dog today, I would probably go to
the pound and liberate a Heinz.

I have a thing for hunting breeds. Over the years I've had beagles, springers, etc. Now I have a dog that more closely represents my mental status, life style, and energy level - a basset hound. Her super powers are eating, sleeping and making people smile.

My current favorite is our Shih Tzu, Ellie. Kind of difficult to house break but not overly so. She meets me at the door at night, all excited to see me, while the wife barely acknowledges my existence. Doesn't require a lot of activity, but she likes her morning walks to visit her friends. A perfect old timers dog.

Try this test: lock your dog and your wife in the trunk of your car. Come back in an hour and open the trunk. See which one is glad to see you!!! :D :D

Wow. I just posted a condolence to a Forum member who lost his dog suddenly. I noted that I've lost too many and if I live long enough I'll lose too many more.

My favorite dogs are mongrels, rescues from shelters who need a home as much as I need to give them one. I do tell people that there are only two kinds of dogs - large, black dogs and all of the rest!

All dogs are great. My favorite breed is the German Shorthair Pointer. I've had two, a male and a female. I lost my male earlier this year to a spleen tumor at age nine, but my female is still as active as a puppy and about to turn ten. My male was goofier and ultra friendly, while my female is more serious and reserved, but is also quite friendly when she wants to be. Both of them have been some of the most loyal and trustworthy companions I have ever had. They act almost human like at times. While I am not much of a hunter, I cannot imagine life without at least one GSP by my side.

My best dog and by far the my worst dog. Alert, great with the kids and very destructive. He constantly finds household items and destroys them.
He is rodent killer and great tracker.
Standard Rat Terrier 32lbs.

Our Family First dog is a hound. She is a rescue.
This has been our most positive moments of 2020.

Some describe her as a "Treeing Walker Coon Hound".
Weighs about 55lb. She likes long walks, doesn't like squeaky toys. Likes stuffed animals, doesn't tear them apart. Does well with the kids.
She loves to "sing"to us.

Take him into NYC, I hear they have serious rat problems. ( the regular 4 legged type, not the political type)....

Search Youtube for rat hunts with dogs. Some are city, some are rural.

Awesome watching those terriers doing the job for which they were bred! :D
