I had a Sport II until yesterday. MY wife bought a Ruger AR 556 but she decided she liked my Sport II better so I traded her. By the time I get rid of that atrocious trigger and do a couple of other things to bring it up to par with the Sport II we could've just bought another Sport II.

I would be interested in a comparison, and why she preferred the S&W over the Ruger! From what I read they are both fine choices, and in a comparison it may just come down to preferences as to why someone likes one more than the other.

Minor things, some of them aesthetic. The Ruger does have a terrible trigger and she has small hands so she likes the slim grip on the S&W. The Ruger only has one sling mount and she likes the white M&P logo on the S&W. I told her she could have either one and if she wanted the Ruger what she didn't like I could change. The S&W already had a red dot and a sling on it. I was going to put the red dot on hers anyway. I have a scope in QD mounts I was going to use. She says I'm not spending more money on the Ruger and the S&W is already set up like I want it. I said you do realize I'm going to spend money on it if I get it and she said that's you not me. :D Women's logic lol

From my experiences with both brands, she made the right decision. Granted the M&P ain't no Cadillac but the Rugers (I like their .22s and revolvers) I've dealt with were just plain sloppy, poor fitment of small parts, etc. Very easy fixes at the manufacturing stage but ..............

I took this one down to clean all the packing oil out of it and it seems to be just as well made as the S&W. Maybe they changed.

I feel your pain, lol. My wife ends up with all my newest toys that i bring home, then i have to go back to the gun shop and buy more. I should just buy 2 of everything. She ends up with it anyway, lol.

I reload too, so i`m feeding both of our habits. But she did buy me a new rear box blade for my tractor this christmas. So i cant really complain, she does buy alot of stuff for me. For my birthday, she bought me a new M&P Shield PC 45 (4in non-ported barrel)

My wife usually likes smaller guns like S&W EZ 9 and Ruger LC9S. I like bigger guns. I bought a Taurus PT92. She liked it so well I ended up giving it to her for her birthday.

smart girl

Smart girl, they notice things that we never will...

You didn't point out to her that the Ruger had a quick connect sling mount on the gas block?

This post "ALMOST" sounds made up to bash the Ruger AR-556.
I installed a JP ENTERPRISE 3.5 lb. trigger spring kit in my AR-556. The trigger pull was 7.22 lbs. before. It's now 4.74 lbs.
BTW, there is nothing wrong with the Sport II. I own a M&P15 made in 2007.
