I received the Covid-19 vaccine yesterday

At the insistence of our daughter both my wife and I were administered the first of two shots intended for increased immunity to the Virus. We spent about an hour and one half in line, of which 15 minutes was waiting after the shot to be sure no reaction occurred. My left shoulder is just a little sore and am hoping that's all the negative comments that will come from it. I had contacted all the medical people and Dr.'s asking whether I should take it and all advised yes to the question. I had open heart surgery in September and needed to be sure.
I have not seen a post stating the experience of having taken the shot so I hope this is helpful if you are having second thoughts. I'm confident each individual will have different levels of reaction to the inoculation and thought you might appreciate hearing from one who had experienced it.

I have completed the series yesterday both times i had arm pain fever chills body aches for a day after administration.The symptoms were milder the 2nd shot, although i've read it's the opposite for most good luck.

I just spent several hours trying to get an appointment and finally did, in February.
It will have to be a pretty bad reaction to surpass the hassle of just getting in line to get the shot.

I think it depends on your state. As I understand it, the Feds allocate to the states, but leave it to the states to figure out priorities as to who gets it when.

I'm scheduled for next Monday, it's not required for my hospital chain (yet) but i have taken care of a lot of Covid positive people and I feel sooner or later i'll get it again

I get my second shot next week. Only side effect was a sore arm.

MBH and I are scheduled for this Sunday at our local hospital.

The governor had declared that the age limit to be brought down to 65 from 75,( we're 72 and 73 ) putting us in the 1B group. . We both have underlying conditions.

One comment - you stated that the vaccine will prevent you from getting the virus. It is my understanding from WHO, that is not the case. What it actually does is make it so when/if you get the virus you don't get it as bad. They say we still need to take all the same precautions we have been taking. Someone help me if I read that incorrectly and I realize there are two different vaccines available.

Anybody can "get" the virus by breathing it in. The vaccine induces your body to recognize the antigens on the Corona virus spikes and attack them with antibodies your immune system produces.

Taking precautions till the pandemic is over is not a bad idea. The vaccines are 95% effective, but common cold viruses and influenza A are still out there, so the traditional non-pharmacological intervention measures, masks, etc., are still in order, especially if you are in a high risk group.

It is sad to watch the chaos of the vaccine inoculation effort. I got my first shot from a large hospital system and am very glad to use them instead of a public health system or commercial pharmacy chain. The hospital system has very good notification, follow-up and second shot capability.

In not getting it until it at least becomes fda approved.

Its 95% effective against the initial strain of covid. It's on its 4th mutation and it's only about 70% effective on the 4th mutation.

Congrats on receiving your vaccine. I would just like to have the experience of receiving a vaccine. When, where and how folks will know about it is a best kept secret here in cornfields & cows country.

As far as qualifiers for a vaccine, there are so many and so many exceptions (especially those that receive it 'just to let us common folks know that it is safe' ) that it would be just as well to let it be first come, first served.

Two weeks ago I had my flu shot. While there I asked my PCP about the Covid vaccine and he said I am scheduled for March.

Ruthie is scheduled to get hers Monday.

My cousin's daughter has been treating Covid patients in NJ since the beginning. She got the jab and had a little arm soreness. I can't wait to get vaccinated, especially since my county's infection and death stats are the worst in the state, but no availability here.
