Bought one of the Model 10-7's from J&G Sales that has no barrel. I bought a 4" Model 10 heavy barrel from Ebay.
Had the parts for the 4" ejector rod and center pin in my stash.
Took the gun apart, cleaned it up, and put it back together, using a semi target hammer instead of the one that came on the gun.
I screwed the barrel into the frame to see where it ended up, and I need to remove maybe 2 or 3 thousandths off the rear of the barrel. Time to chuck the barrel in my lathe and get it done. Maybe will do it today, but all the tools and the lathe are at the new house, so I have to make a trip to do so.

Worked on the gun today and got the barrel shoulder set back.
The garage was cold, as was the lathe, but I suffered through it. Came home and screwed the barrel into the frame and all was well, except that the Model 10 heavy barrel does not mate up to the front of the 10-7 frame, but since it's going to be a shooter and not a looker I'll let it slide.
Perhaps a standard Model 10 barrel would mate up much better contour wise.

Looking forward to seeing the results!

I sold the first one of these I built, just slapped a 2" barrel on it, slicked up the action, bobbed the hammer and called it a day.

The first one was mostly about making a little money to work on the second one, which is going to get a 4" barrel, shortened to 3" and a little custom work. I still need to get it to the gunsmith...

I'm currently working on one of the J&G "naked" revolvers too. Since I'm a big spender, I bought one of the $18 cut off barrels from Numrich to put on it.

Looking forward to re-finishing and completing all of the other details, like a yoke detent and front sight install. Sure can't shoot it while it's in pieces in a cardboard box.

I had a brain fart yesterday when I fit the center pin, I didn't shorten it enough so I have to remove it and do some more filing to get it right.

The cylinder had a ring around it from the cylinder stop, so I removed the stop and polished it. Have to double check it to see if it's coming up into the cylinder stop approaches correctly, or if it's popping up too soon.

Why were the barrels removed from these revolvers in the first place?

The last one I did, I over clocked a little.
I had to pull it and used a spring loaded
center punch to upset enough metal to get
it to time right. (Got a little frisky with the
needle files).

The barrel I used was off a model 13 and
since that's a heavy barrel the transition
between frame and barrel has the barrel
being proud of the frame.

But it's now a round butt .357. It runs fine.

Got the center pin fitted correctly, and since there was a little hitch when the trigger was pulled back, I filed the bottom of the double action sear slightly and beveled the front edge of it. Also changed out the trigger and the cylinder stop.
No more hitch in the trigger pull and the stop comes up closer, if not in, to the lead-in on the cylinder.
The barrel will have to wait until we go down to the new house tomorrow. I'm hesitant about doing the barrel, as I have difficulty standing, and use a cane due to neuropathy and other issues, so I don't know if I will be able to stand at the lathe long enough to cut back the barrel.
If I can't do it, I will take it to my Cousin's machine shop and have him help me. Either way it will get done.

None of mine have a serial number just 10-7 and one does not even have that. Totally blank and it does not look like finish was ever disturbed. it is the one I made into a Smolt 357. Maybe I'll stamp MOD C19 or something in there.

I am getting a hankering for more of these frames but other stuff keeps getting in the way right now. I have a 13-2 4" parts kit and a 64-5 parts kit that I could use on a few frames.
