I really wish S&W would remove or offer an option to buy a revolver without the full barrel underlug. I hate the looks of them and I don't load hot. I don't need the extra weight. Anyone out there with me??
I think they look good on the short barrels, ridiculous on the 8+
The problem with most current models with half lugs is they use the
butt-ugly two piece barrels, while the full lug barrels are still one piece.

I think Smith went with the full underlug to compete with the Colt Python’s looks and simultaneously reduce manufacturing costs.
Smith was successful in cost reduction, but missed the aesthetic improvement achieved by Colt.
Smith’s full underlug adds weight and poor balance that does nothing to improve shooting characteristics.
The problem with most current models isn't the underlug, it's the lock, which is 10x uglier.
