Balderson is our rep here in Ohio - I and many others sent the NRA E-mail - Apparently it didn't help.

Great Bi-Partisanship!

Thank you! You don't know how much we 2nd Amendment Democrats appreciate Bi-Partisan support for America's Legislative process.

As for me, I have NO problem with extended background checks. Don't mess up and all of "we" gun owners will find no impediments on our purchases & ownership of our 2nd Amendment accouterments ...guns and boollits, etc). ;)

All I know is that I got MINE!

You must have not been paying attention over the years to the ways that Schumer, Durbin, Reed and friends have attacked guns, ammo and civilian gun ownership. I remember Schumers anti-gun antics when he was in the House and he will continue in the Senate now that he has some power.
By the way, what is your definition of extended background checks? The legislation that you are seeing now is just the beginning. I think that you are wrong on no impediments to purchase and ownership. Time will tell who is right and I hope that you are, but I have serious doubts.

We don't need to take his bait.
Stay focused on the topic and remember who sold us out. ;)

Well, that’s fine if that is all they do...... as for me, I just don’t trust them to stop there.

The objective of this legislation is eventual registration of all firearms and confiscation of guns from politically unstable individuals. If they want to prevent deaths they should require a background check for driving licenses. Legalize marijuana and regulate self defense?
Thanks to the OP for posting the information.

Once the gator starts knawing on your foot taint long till he up to your crotch. Of course if your head is in the clouds you won't know nothin till its too late.

Has ANYONE heard of anyone being prosecuted for lying on a 4473? IF they would enforce the laws on the books it would stop 90% of the BS there forcing down our throats,

Rob

Nothing they do to make it hard on law abiding gun buyers will have any effect on mass shootings or any other criminal activity . 95% of all school shootings over the last number of years have been done by students currently attending the school involved . They were not impeded by any background checks .

As has been said before, this is not about safety, it’s about CONTROL.

I have observed the sentencing for several . . .

That’s good to hear that there is some degree of follow up. How did those, that you observed, come about? Random checking of the 4473 by the ATF? Buyer Fail a BGC and the authorities followed up?
I can recall the President, back as VP, stating something to the effect that checking/follow up on the 4473’s was not practical (my words not his).

Here in Tennessee private sales of firearms between legal adults is perfectly legal. This universal background check BS would be a major PITA to us. WE DON"T WANT IT!

Mixed emotions here...

I didn't want it either and I went kicking and screaming, but it got shoved down our throats anyway. I STILL don't want it, but I must admit that it has NOT been a PITA.

Go to a dealer or go to a gun show. While you are filling out the 4473 the seller is online. The new online NICS is easy and fast and he gets the approval back before you are done filling out the paperwork.

In the past, I have shied away from buying out of someone's trunk. Is the gun legal? Also, in past years look at the parking lot dealings at a gun show. Some seedy looking characters buying. Why? I'm sure because they could not pass the NICS.

It may hurt us in the long run by ushering other laws, and that's why I'm against it, but for the short term its of no consequence to us that obey the law.
